Please help me identify these

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I hate to start out using the forum by asking for favors, but I was hoping I could get some help identifying these mushrooms I found. I also have 8 photos, which anyone can use or put in the photo gallery if anyone wants to. OK, I'm not sure how to actually include pictures in a post like this, so Ive put them on my website. Go here to view the pictures:
http://excellentland.beplaced.com/picturepage.htm
I found them in the Adelaide hills (South Australia) a few days ago. They all came from a total of three locations, about 90% all from one location. There are three which Ive put separate because they look different. I think this is only because they are much older than the others and are quite dry. Note that these other three were found within a Meter of ones in the "younger" group, and there were not any other mushrooms in this vicinity. All three locations were within around 5-10 Meters of a running creek growing in amongst grass on fairly level ground. Surrounding trees were native gums and shrubs etc. All mushrooms have heaps of inky blue stains all over, but these stains look blackish on the older specimens. These mushrooms looked pretty much identical to the photos of Psilocybe subaeruginosa on the erowid website.
All gills are chocolate brown, and do not follow the stem down. I think this means non-attached.
The stems are off-white , hollow and robust (unlike say the pictures of stems on Psilocybe semilanceata (Liberty Cap) Ive seen on erowid) on the new ones, and light brown, hollow and much thinner on the oldies. I think this is due to age/drying.
Caps were a yellowish colour and were dry when I found them. The edges of the caps curved in slightly towards the stem on the "new ones", and didn't curve up or down on the three "old ones". There were no obvious lines on the caps, and there was a slight 'nipple' on top. This has become much more pronounced now they are drying (see photos).
I couldn't get the caps to drop a spore print, so I rubbed the gills with a cotton tip thing (the ones you use in your ears). The resulting colour was chocolate brown, like the gills. After i rubbed the spores (?) off, I could see that the gills were really light brown underneath the chocolate coloured powder. Also note that the gills were very dry as I did this, didn't break up, and little powder came off.
They smelled earthy, like flavorsome eating mushrooms, and smelled quite edible.
Also, if you look at the photos, note the blue and yellow stains on the napkins. blue and yellow stains came from both groups after I washed them and placed them there to dry. Depending on whether or not you all think this is safe, i was going to eat half a cap to see if it makes me ill or not. Thanks for your patience everyone - I know this is getting pretty long!

I don't know much about Australian shrooms, but the first set of pics with the blue bruising look like active subs. The last 3 pictures, with the skinnier brown stems, appear to be a different mushroom and should be tossed. Wait until a mod or some other australian expert gives their opinion though.

Thanks for your reply xmush. Anyone else got any ideas? It looks like this topic is going to be lost forever in the void of other topics!!

Yes, someone help this fine gentleman. He's been waiting to trip for days now!
Sir_Jeans, there definitely are some mushrooms in your batch that appear to be a different species, and could potentially be deadly poisonous galerinas - I'm speaking of the ones with the skinny brown stems. But again, wait for someone with some southern hemisphere expertise.

I'm no expert on Australian mushrooms either, but as far as the info that you provided goes, it suggests an active Psilocybe species. The gill color sounds right, the bluing, etc. Spore print color should be purple brown to chocolate brown. This only applies to the ones that obviously bruise blue of course.

I don't see blueing in the last ones- the brown ones with the skinny stems, as Xmush noted. I would disregard eating any of that bunch that does not display evident bluing.
The others definately resemble a Psilocybe species (the ones with the blue in the stipe).
Where's BlueMeanie?? Isn't he from Australia? Hmmm...? ::nuuuudge::

That is exactly why I added this statement - "This only applies to the ones that obviously bruise blue of course."

I know, I was restating.
Can never be too cautious in this business!!
Especially when we know there will be some people posting ID requests, and then blaming the board members for themselves consuming their unidentified find.

Haha, I can just picture getting sued by someone for giving them a bad ID or something.
If it already isn't mentioned in the splash screens and sticky threads, it should be mentioned that:
You should use the advice given here as a starting point to work from! Nobody is perfect! The possibility for someone to make a mistake will always be there. People should never eat anything unless they feel confident enough themselves, after double checking and making sure our information is accurate.
I know that I wouldn't just blindly go and eat something just because a forum member said it was safe!
I would check it out for myself!

I guess basically what I'm trying to say is that while we try our best, I still don't like it when people go and eat something based on what we say.
If someone doesn't feel comfortable enough with identification on their own, they don't need to be eating mushrooms.
I am totally self taught. I have eaten tons of different species. Not because someone said I could, but because I LEARNED on my OWN and felt confident enough to try them.

I agree with you whole heartedly.
I would never post an ID request, get a latin name agreed by all around and told it was an edible, then dish it up without checking the info out extensively for myself.
I second guess myself a LOT. I have only eaten one species of my finds, though I feel confident in my ID's of most mushrooms I find. I find out something new about mushrooms daily, so I am wary of testing my knowledge on myself- only takes one lazy misidentification to end your life.
I took some Panaeolus subbalteatus on the 4th of july, and haven't keeled over yet.
