Injecting casings with water
    #5844656 - 07/10/06 10:04 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I was doing some reading and found it interesting that you could inject a casing with water. I didn't find too much specifics about it however. What cases would/wouldn't you want to do this? How would you do this (inject in middle? inject in multiple spots?)?

Thanks!

Why would you want to inject your casing with water when you can spray it down, or even dunk it if it becomes too dry..

i tried injecting a casing with water once from a syringe... poked down as far as i could in an area with no pins, squirted a little in... and it shot back out into the air in another spot like a mini geyser... not so good.  will never do that again, as said you can provide plenty of moisture by proper misting, and can dunk before flushes.

i did this and injected in multiple spots, where there were no knots/pins/mushrooms, because the verm on the bottom was dry and it was starting to pull away from the edges of the tub.

There would be no point in injecting water into a casing. It's too easy to simply mist. Where injection can help is if the substrate below the casing gets too dry. Just inject 2cc into each of half a dozen spots around the substrate. If you inject slowly, the water will stay where you put it. 2cc isn't going to make a geyser.

Injection is also a benefit if your pf cakes are too dry during a flush. An injection can hold them over until after the flush when you can dunk. Just don't overdo it. You don't want a waterlogged cake or bulk substrate.

My mistake, I don't have a casing layer...just Hpoo. I think I will try out injecting it if it starts looking like it needs it. Thanks for the tips!
