Water dripping a lot in incubator

A FOAF is using the box within a box of water and submersible aquarium heater as an incubator. Temp is constant at 85 degrees so it's all good. Only thing is it gets super super wet in there, like a ton of water rolls down the underside of the lid when opened. Humidity is somewhere over 95% inside where the jars and casings are. Is this water going to cause problems such as contams?? Thanks for the help!!!! Vis

I have the same inbubator that you have....actually 3. I add hydrogen peroxide to my water...to cut down on contams. The dripping is a pain.....but it hasn't caused me any problems. Throw a cover over the top of the jars.....to keep the water off.

I have nearly the same setup as you and Roadkill. I started out using an inner tub that was about 50% smaller than the outer tub. With the submersible heater keeping things at 82' F (remember the jars will be 2' F or 3' F higher inside) the lid would get heavy condensation like yours. I switched the inner tub to one that was identical to the outer one, they are both slightly tapered and one fits inside the other. I cut about 5" off the top of the inner tub so I could close the lid on the outer one. This screwed up the air temp and I had to re-adjust the submersible to get it right again. But on the plus side humidity went from 98%+ to 85% and I no longer have any condensation on the lid dripping on the jars or cascading down the underside when opened.
