I have found today something that, when ID'd with a eurpoean book, says its chicken polypore. i live in TN, so i have to ask if theres any poisonous lookalikes.
also are there any recipes? i tried it raw, just a taste, but it kinda reminded me of raw fish, so i feel this is in order.
thanx, nobhdy

Do you have pictures of it? What color was the pores/spore print?
It is listed as one of the "fool proof" mushrooms, but you never know who might still make a mistake.

it was...is....bright orange.
and the best i can do is via webcam...crappy webcam, but ill try...
quality sucks, i know, but if it helps.....

kinda shows size.... they were really heavy

The shape from your pics certainly looks a lot like it - of course, they are too blurry to be totally sure. Check my page out...

Do those look like yours?
Did you find yours at the base of a tree, directly on wood, or elsewhere?
What state are you in?

You are supposed to cook it well. I have tried it various ways. Don't go and eat a bunch raw, as it could possibly cause stomach upset!
