anyone with experience with amazon strain?
    #5843926 - 07/10/06 07:28 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

anyone here have any experience with the amazon strain please advise me here...
i have a hpoo bulk grow already cased and in the fruit chaimber.
it has been there for 5 days now, and the myc is growing like wild fire.
almost over the entire casing now. it looks like a layer of polyfill or something.
no contams, just MYC.
does this stuff take a while to pin?
and should i be expecting large fruits or what?
i have experience with B+ but thats it.
so i would like to know if anyone can tell me what to look forward to, and if possible i did something wrong...
thank in advance for any replies.

Nice avatar!

Exactly how fast is your mycelium growing and explain to me what it looks like. Hopefully you are not trying to fruit cobweb. 5 days isnt that long.

true five days is not that long.
and it sounds maybe like you are using coir in your casing.
or some other nutritious substance.
you should be fine.
amazons are nice.
a cube is a cube though.
if you read hypae's pinning strategy and understand it all,
you should know what to do.

cool bro, just wanted an opinion, i think these things are gonna explode soon.
oh and yeah there is a 60/40 coir/verm mix.
i have another but it is a hpoo with 20%verm casing and it is doing fine and the growth is much less than the first i mentioned.
i guess coir is pretty nutricious.

yup.
about as nutritious as horse poo.
the mycelium will probably consume most of your casing
seeing how it is 60% coir.
so from here on out treat the grow as one with no casing.

after the vegetative cycle of the casing layer colonization,
your substrate will pin. Your casing is now just added substrate.
you may consider crumpled wax paper over the top of the substrate until pinset is formed.

good luck.

it was the casing layer- 60/40. coir/verm.
didnt know weather i should add another casing layer or let r go.
but i have started to see knots on it as of tonight.
no color though, still white.

Yeah, I'm using peat moss/verm for my casing layer, specifically because I use coir as my bulk substrate... I'm spawning 6 wbs pints into coir tonight and using several small double tubs.  Didn't want my casing to be nutritive, otherwise I'd have what you've got... myc eating the casing.

Anyways, should work out great for you, looks like you've come a long way

sorry so many questions. but what did u use too spawn? wbs or brf? just looks a little over colonized for a casing layer. did you colonize hpoo then add casing layer and if so .....how long did you leave before you took the pic

Preschooler, he used coir/verm as his casing mix... That's why it's over colonized... coir is nutritive, therefore, it's just like adding a bulk substrate on top of his substrate :P

i used wbs.
this tray is just the wbs cased with the 60/40.
nothing more.
i waited about 3 days and had some myc climbing through the casing when i moved it to the refridgerator for 12 hours then to the fruit chaimber.

the temp is between 76 and 80. and the rh is 94%. and it gets 1 15 min gas exchange per hour.

i made another tray and spawned to hpoo with 20% verm mixed in. and it is almost ready to case.
but i am waiting for 100%
