Microwave tek - Shaker Tek

Okay people are always wondering if its possible to sterilize in a microwave.. with this new shaker method of growing its easy, cheap, and highly effective! Be smart and read it all the way through before trying it out! These instructions take you easily from spore through harvest. The items used are very easy to come by and give great results. White or Yellow popcorn, Hydrogen peroxide (3%), water (preferably distilled), and compost cow manure. On the other hand you can also just go ahead and use the PF tek recipe with vermiculite, Brown Rice Flour, and water (preferably distilled), the vermiculite will be the casing instead of the compost manure in this case. If you use the PF non-shaker method, DO NOT SHAKE (obviously?)! Shaking may cause bruising and damage to the mycelium! The shaker kit is essentially just an airtight ziplock container (4 cups/32 oz/946mL size with twist top is optimal) with a twist-top lid. To assemble this kit you take your lid and punch a 1-2 cm hole in it, cover the hole with a peice of doubled-over coffee filter or a synthetic filter disc and use a hot-glue gun to seal it to the lid. To inject spores you will just inject through the plastic lid and seal it well with tape.
Now onto the tek: Popcorn "shaker" method... Ingredients: Popcorn (white or yellow) Hydrogen peroxide (3%) Composted Cow manure (or vermiculite) A One Quart saucepan A strainer A microwave
Instructions Meassure out 1/2 cup of white or yellow popcorn and soak it in 2 cups of distilled water and 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide (3%) for at least 24 hours. Pour this into your saucepan and allow it to boil for two hours adding water so that there is always a rolling boil. Strain your popcorn of all water while you sterilize your shaker kit by wiping it down with hydrogen peroxide. Dump the popcorn into the kit after it has been strained and the kit sterilized. Place the lid on but do not screw it down. Microwave the kit for three minutes on high. Remove when done and carefully tighten your lid using a towel or an oven mitt; escaping steam makes it very hot. Once the container is cooled to room temp inject spores through the lid and seal the hole with tape immediately. After spores are injected place the kit in a warm dark place between 78-86 degrees (no higher than 90). As soon as you see mycelium growth inside your kit shake the popcorn up to increase spread of your colony. When the mycelium totally covers your growing medium you must wait 5-7 more days before spreading compost or verm across the top of your inoculated popcorn mass and close the lid. Make sure you spread the verm or compost equally across the popcorn. This will be your casing. You will now wait for primodia to form which will eventually become full gorwn mushrooms. When you see the primordia form you need to unscrew the lid but leave it on the kit to allow gas exchange to occur and keep humidity in. When the veil has broken on the mushrooms they are ready for harvest. Take the mushroom and twist it at its base in an upwards motion to remove it. This kit will give you roughly 2-3 good flushes resulting in about 70-100 grams of wet mushrooms.
PF non-"shaker" method... Ingredients: Water (Preferably distilled) Vermiculite Brown Rice Flour (Organic) Hydrogen peroxide (3%) A One Quart saucepan A strainer A microwave
Instructions Meassure out 2/3 cup vermiculite, 2/3 cup brown rice flour, and 1/3 cup distilled water and mix well. Sterilize your kit with the hydrogen peroxide and dump the mixture into your kit.
When the mycelium totally covers your growing medium you must wait 5-7 more days before spreading compost or verm across the top of your inoculated substrate and close the lid. Make sure you spread the verm or compost equally across the substrate as this will be your casing. This kit will give you roughly 2-3 good flushes resulting in about 60-90 grams of wet mushrooms.

I might try this when I get into my college residence because I don't think I'll have access to a pressure cooker when I get there. Unless I can gank the one from the folks. <_<

Yeah, see the thing about this method if you use the corn is most people find better results with it. Another thing is if you buy a bag of popcorn, a bag of compost, a bag of coffee filters and a 6 pack of the proper ziplocks, you only spend about $15 The ziplocks function as your fruiting chamber so its easily consealable for hidden projects too! Most hidden projects are limited to their access to a kitchen and boiling corn is not in the least suspicious :-) The microwaving can usually be done later in one's room where people dont usually go so it wont be seen ;-)
Keep in mind though, if you do something illegal and someone else is living with you, they will be in just as much trouble as you even if the didnt know it was going on!

Not true. They have to prove who's it was and charge that person or prove that you both knew about it to get a conspiracy charge.

Yes it is.
To prove a drug charge they have to prove possession or conspiracy.
To prove conspiracy they have to prove that you 1. knew about it and 2. committed one act in furtherance of the conspiracy.

You need plain white or plain yellow, unsalted, unbuttered, unpopped kernels, in the plastic bag.. like the kind used in air poppers or over the stove... Uhm... composted cow manure, basicly cow manure with ground up wood left to compost.. when dry is is ready for use... make sure to pasturize it

Its totally preference.. If you want to just use vermiculite (most people do anyways its more sanitary and cheaper)

Hey, I don't mean to be a prick, or to burst anyone's bubble, but this method isn't new. They've been selling these "shaker" kits on eBay for a couple years now. The only real difference is that particular person puts a hospital type self-healing injection site on the ziploc lid. In fact, the directions posted are nearly word for word what the eBay add says. Are you selling these things on eBay, man? LOL

/me grumbles... Well if you had a great idea you wouldnt check to see if it exsists! (Unless of course you were going to patent it..) Oh well.. Either way, this is a really nifty tek because its so cheap and insconspicious :-D
[edit] Oh hell, I did a google on the search and there are a shitload of results for my method ..

ehh this tek sucks and like previously stated it's nothing new.
Yes if i had an Idea i would check to see if it already existed. Kinda common sense.
Oh well.

what? are you serious? substituting composted cow manure for verm or vice versa?
do you really think compost is a casing material? or better yet composted cow manure?

Since when did the police ever have to "prove" anything. Oh and you can be arrested, charged, and convicted for INTENT alone. It has happened to me so I know. You don't ever have to have a drug in your posession to be put in jail. There are laws against "intent to purchase" and depending on your state "intent to purchase and/or use a controlled substance" Also I beleive anyone who lives in a place that is manufacturing or growing any illegal substance is subject to legal action because they could have moved out or reported it to the police before, so I think it is really hard to win a case against that and you would most likely at least get some probation.
