Poo bags vs cased substrait
    #5842654 - 07/10/06 02:19 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys I'm currently in a debate over how I want to grow my B+ that I have colonizing my WBS right now.

I have sealable mycobags, 5 lbs of 50/50 Tennstud, 5 quarts of B+ WBS colonizing.

I had planned to use Hydr0420's Poo Bag tech. Mixing all the substrait into the poo and then separating it into two pound incriments into mycobags and just leave them till pinning time.
Lazy, yay! I like that idea, however I've become weary about what type of yield it will produce.

The more and more I see cased and bulk-like grows the more it makes me want to do one. I realize the bags are easy, but I think more final product would be better. My only problems are I really don't have a way to control temperature the temp is anywhere from 72-80 in this house(generally mid 70's). The only thing I have is a heating pad from a reptile setup I had a while back. I have prelite, and I could mist too for humidity. Other than that I don't think I can make the extra stretch right now to buy a humidifier...

So given the information, and what you know, could you help me make a desicion?

Thanks.

do a small monotub.

5 lbs of poo and a couple quarts of wbs will do a small tub.

get some coco coir to add to your poo and use your 5 quarts
of spawn with that to make a larger monotub.

you should be fine with temps.
the substrate will colonize and fruit in your mentioned temps.

^that will work just fine.

if you have a greenhouse, you can do trays for it.
I would go cased substrate.

Cased substrait it is then.

I guess I'm going to need to get a few items.

Polly Fill
Clear plastic tub
Tashbags
Kitty Litter bags
Tin Trays deep enough for 2-4 inches of substrate
*other casing mats besides vermiculite*
Spray bottle

Sound good?

no tin trays needed.
the substrate will go into a black plastic lining,
in the bottom of the monotub.

for casing get:
peat moss
hydrated garden lime
gypsum

or you could get an opaque tub and cut out the lid
and replace it with plexi-glass.

sounds good.

maybe a drill bit to cut the holes in the tub.
