my mono-tub was looking dry one day so i took a syringe and shot it full of water and it worked like a charm.

well i took a syringe, sterilized it, loaded it with water and h2o2 and re-hydrated the casing...i tried to stick the needle in where there were no knots or pins.

i didn't use steril water (but did mix h2o and h2o2, just wiped the needle with alcohol and stuck it in. i made a bunch of holes (dont know exact number) and evenly injected the caseing below the substrate.

The casing should be on top of the substrate, not below. Don't inject a casing layer. All you need to do is mist. If the substrate below is too dry, you can inject a bit of water into it. There is no need for sterile water or peroxide.
Why are there three active threads asking this same question? You guys really need to read several pages of threads before starting one of your own. It clutters the boards up to have multiple threads all over the place asking the exact same questions that have already been answered. RR

i read that there were both pros and cons to having a layer of wet vermiculite below the substrate - thats what i mean by bottom casing, just a layer of verm.

i know you can mist directly into the casing layer, but I'm no using one. not over the sub nor below, i is just verm mixed with worm poo, and i did A LOT of searching, but couldn't find any proper explanation on injecting, how much, where, deep, kind of water, etc.
