Jar Size

I was out buying materials for my first grow today and I could only find Ball Pint Widemouths, no 1/2 Pints. Will it be alright if I still only put about .75cc of spores in each (12 In All), or should I use less jars and put more in each due to the size?

less spore inoculation only means that it will take more time to fully colonize so the trade off is up to you; whats more important, faster colonization, or more jars.
.75cc is a very tiny bit, at least it seems that way to me, for a pint jar.

Do you know what you are doing?
Have you done it before?
Should work
I use 2ml for 1/2 gallon
dont want to mess up your jar moisture

I'm thinking about 1.25cc for each jar, using 8 instead of 12.

Im guessing your doing Pf Tek, My first grow was a terrible one using the BFR in pint jars, not one finished colonizing it was bad, if all you can find is Pint jars, I would say you might as well buy a bag of bird seed and make grain jars, Good luck , Be safe

Why bird seed? How does the substrate correspond with the size of the jar that would alter success?

Well when my Pint BRF jars stoped growing the bottom that would not colonizing appeared very very dry, so I am guessing it didnt colonize fast enough and that let the BFR open to eveporate water off slowly and in the end evaporated too much for the mycelium to move onto it
Grain Jars colonize much faster and seem to be alot easier to get the moisture content right, But I have seen colonized Pint jars of BRF so Im sure they can work but If I was you I would play it safe and get wild bird seed.

I just found that I have a bunch of 8oz. Ball Widemouth jars, would those be better for the BRF? Maybe I could try 1cc in eight 8oz. jars, and 2cc in one of the pint jars. Thanks for the input by the way.

that will work!~

I can put 2 cc in a 1/2 pint jar and get the jar to colonize fully in 7 to 10 days... from a multi-spore inoculation.
I use Pint jars too... they just take longer to colonize is all.
I'm messing around with some really old jars right now... odd size jars that they don't make anymore. My cousins had some of my Grandmothers old canning jars... and there is some really wierd jars in those boxes.
I like to mess around and play with stuff... and see how long they take to colonize.

Nice, then I think I'll go with that. Do a little of experimenting with sizes and amounts myself.
