Ok so i am soaking some Rye berries in a mixture of water, coffee, bloodmeal and oyster shell powder. Is it OK to simmer the Rye in the same water i soaked in? I dont want to remake the above combo. THanks guys.

Ok, so im thinking it would be better to rinse before simmering. That way most of the cofee/other addatives wouldnt get rinsed off in a rinse at the very end. What do you guys think?

I always rinse after the simmer. Works awesome for me. All your additives should be soaked into your RYE itself.
And in my opinion the coffee thing is bull shit. I have seen no difference in potency or yield, when compared to RYE that didn't have the coffee.

The time to rinse is before you begin the soak. You want to remove the dust and chaff from the grains so they don't clump up and stick together later. After the soak, simmer in the soak water to kill off the bacteria that has germinated before you pour it down your sink. This will help keep your sink drain from stinking.
Personally, I use weak coffee to soak rye berries every time. It's not for potency or yield, but for speed and vigor in colonization. RR
