will my friend go skitzo?

my friend nick's uncle has schitzophrenia (or how ever you spell that) and he is worried that mushrooms, being a strong hallucenogen or whatever, might bring out that recessive gene in him. he's told me that someone who is knowledgable told him doing shrooms would increase the probability that he ends up developing skitzophrenia. does anybody here know anything about this? seems like it could be true, but also seems a little far fetched.

Not far fetched at all. If he's worried about it, he shouldn't eat em.

schitzophrenia is passed down genetically through the damaged paternal genes, as an imprinted gene...imprinted genes can be silenced, meaning they are no signs, but can be triggered by heavy toxins, like lead poising, or very poor nutrition, it can also be created becuase of heavy toxins etc, mutating the gene...these arent facts obviously becuase scientist arent 100% sure about anything in genetics, but this is what some studies have shown...so, i doubt that your friend could be triggered becuase his father doesnt have it, and his uncle could have developed it from prenatal toxin exposure...BUT if his family has a history of it then there could be a problem...but there isnt solid studies saying that shrooms can trigger it anyway, they can cause people with the desease to lose it...but it differs from person to person...i dont know if any of this helped or not...but i tried

^yeah, i think his family has a history of that shit. and not to sound arrogant, but its impossible to have a bad trip if all the variables are straight - time of day, dosage, surroundings ... i'd prolly just make him listen to music and look at the forest or something.

Psychedelics can trigger latent schizophrenia, espesially if he is young, which I am guessing he is. I would not risk it if I were in his shoes until I were at least 21, and even then, I would proceed with caution...
Also depends on how severe his uncle's schizophrenia is, and if others in his family have any other mental illnesses...
it only takes one time to fuck things up.

I believe having a single uncle/aunt with it increases the likelihood of developing schizophrenia. However, it is still relatively low (<2%).

what if one aunt is bi-polar, does that mean it could possibly be in me and could be triggered?

I recommend that he at least avoid shrooms until he is no longer skeptical about it.

also you should mention to him that smoking mariujana daily increases his odds of developing skitzophernia by like 300% (If he smokes, also less frequency still increases his risk a small percentage)
