Anyone know if its possible to keep a poppy plant alive and just keep milking it?

Assuming you started them in a pot or outside and haven't moved them, you can make multiple lancings.

I think ive read that the alkaloids do diminish after each cut but you can still get around 7-8 before it becomes pointless.
( That might not be 100% correct )

You can't keep them going forever though because the plant will stop producing pods, even if you take the old ones off.
Any pods left on will ripen and seed withing afew weeks.

Thanks yea I got them outside in pots. So about getting the seeds should I wait for the pod to die or what?

Just leave the pods on the plant, the seeds are ready when the pod starts to dry and holes open up underneath the crown.

Once the seeds are good you'll be able to shake the pod and hear them rattling about. If you tip the pod upside down they'll all fall out.

Amatoxin was saying you can use the old seeded pods for poppy tea but i haven't tried this yet, sounds ok though !
Not sure how stong that tea would be if you've been lancing the pods, but a lanced pod should still produce good seeds.
