Testes with petri and Agaricus augustus

Hi mates, here my observations about my first testes with Agaricus augustus.
I've found a syringe of spores of A.augustus made on 07.07.2005 (a year ago!). Originated from a sporeprint take from the wild it always gimme molds (when i inoculated directly the jars).
Last week i've bougth my first glass petri dishes, and used the recipe of agar's broth gimme from Owl. So i inoculed with a little squeeze 4 petris. Of course grew mold, exactly black, from the point of inoculation. i discarded 3 of them, and keeped one, to see how the mold kill the mycelium..but i've wrong..after 2 days the mycelium seemed to create 2 powerfull circles around the mold, as a embankment for the "mold troopers' advance"
This morning i've selected 3 different parts of culture from the petri, and inoculed 3 new petris. In 2-3 hours, the mycelium seemed grew yet. It's very soon to obtain a success, but i believe in the power of the mycelium.
i'm very excited!!
I changed a bit the recipe of Owl cause i didn't need 1 liter of agar's broth, so divided all for half (except the agar powder quantity...i added 4 full teaspoons):
-500 ml of tap water -300 gr of sliced potatos (sliced as FLAKES)
Boiled for 30 minutes, then strained into a glass jar and added
-4 teaspoons of white/light honey (i used Acacia honey) -a knifepoint of yeast (i used the one for the cakes, the istantaneous)
shaked for 30 seconds, then added
-4 teaspoons of agar powder
shaked for another half minute then poured with an old syringe in the petris (about 10cc for petri)
picked the pressure cook filled with the minumum of water, putted a plate with a 100% WHITE COTTON patch into in the bottom of the pressure cook (it doesn't float over the water), and putted the petris, rolled in another WHITE 100% COTTON patch.
pressure cooked in 20 minutes from the steam, waited the pressure returned at ambient pressure and opened the pressure cook after 5-6 hours.
i've used this petris after 48 hours..cause if you use soon they've a lot of excess water.
stay tuned!!!

The chances are very good that if it's growing that fast. . . .it's mold. Lots of molds are snow white. We get used to seeing cobweb which is grey, but from wild mushrooms, you'll get lots of molds that are as white as mushroom mycelium. They fool me all the time too. If you have a microscope, look at your culture. If the strands are straight, it's likely mushroom mycelium. If the strands are kinky like a steel wool pad, it's mold. Grrrr. RR

Thank you Roger, a part of your answer delighted me over this http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5830338/an/0/page/0
..i'm sure that i'm growing mycelium + mold, i saw the new 3 petri and unlucky seem the mold follow me.
on the borders mycelium is quite rhyzomophic. in the center it's cottony.
i'll check to the microscopy as soon as possible.
tnx!

Cool. Your thread title still worries me however. It's best not to put your testes on agar. You might cultivate a helluva case of jock itch. RR

RR's post then this one especially made me laugh my ass off. Almost busted a lung... Shit, i know every time i experiment with my testes, i end up with a wood sub.
edit: sorry for diggin up an old post, and having nothing to add to it... just more jokes and fucking around, which is probably why it ended in 2006...
