First Mushroom Hunt

Hullo everyone! I come from the magical land of West Australia, Perth. It's pretty much mushroom season at the moment and I'm looking for a few little bits of info for my first mushroom hunting experience.
Anywho, the first thing I wanted to check was that I have the correct info so I don't kill myself or my friends ^_^" From my study, I found that Psilocybe Australiana and Psilcybe Subaerugenosa (more so the subs) grow in W.A and here's the info I collected on them...
Quote:
Psilocybe Australiana
Location – Eucalyptus Mulch; check around the bottom of eucalyptus trees
Identifying –
- Large umbonated cap with a sharp nipple. - Orangey brown cap. - Transparent veil around the cap / White specked remnants of the veil. - Radial lines (mostly visible near the edge of the cap. - Stem is white and has a consistent radius; chestnut brown when broken open - Gills are crowded; Light brown to Dark Brown - Stain blue - Spore print is Dark Purple-Brown
Quote:
Psilocybe Subaerugenosa
Location – Wood debri, rotting wood, pine and eucalyptus mulch, kangaroo and cow manure.
Identifying – - Dark brown cap - Strong umbo - White stem - Crowded gills that ascend towards the stem; chocolate brown in color - Stain blue - Can be uplifted at maturity but is inrolled more often than not. - Stem covered in greyish brown streaks - Purple brown spore print
I wanted to know if there are any deadly look alikes (or other deadly mushrooms I should know about) of these species in W.A? I know about the Metol test to see whether or not the mushrooms contain Psilocin but I was wondering if there was a test to see if the mushrooms contain Amatoxins or other poisens? Otherwise my plan is to take a specimen to one of my local universities to get to tested in the botany department, but I don't really want to do that. Safety issues.
Also, a question directed to any Perth-inites with exp. Could you possibly PM me some locale's (ie: balingup)? Balingup was the only place I knew of, and I heard that it was totally cracked down on by cops. Searching peoples cars and whatnot Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks a bunch peoples <3

I suspect that Galerina would be the most common deadly look alike you might expect to see. I am not familiar with what species grow in Oz but G. marginata and G. autumnalis would be one to watch out for. Conocybes should be easy to distinguish.

Hey cheers for the reply!
I just looked up G.Marginata and G.Autumnails and it looks like they will be fairly easy to distinguish.
-Cinnamon-brown spore print, as opposed to purple-brown. -Annulus near the top -No blue bruising
The metol test is a pretty sure fire way of weeding out the Galerina seeing as they dont contain psylocin. Plus the Annulus at the top. But I'll be -extra- wary of ones I can't definetly identify.
Thanks again baycafe Any other deadlies I should know about?

I just want you to be safe out there. Here is someone from Oz bringing a potentially deadly mushroom for identification while searching for Psilocybe subaerugenosa likely.

Its a test up on Mushroom Johns site
http://www.mushroomjohn.com/guidetext7.htm
You take 1 part metol and 20 parts water and leave the stem of your specimen in the mixture, and if the mushroom contains psylocin then the mixture will turn blue.
Oh and cheers for that link to that potentially deadly mushroom. I'll keep an eye on that.
Still craving some confirmation on my findings though. I want to be 100% sure I am as best prepared for when I go down.
