I was wondering what the best amoung of spores to squirt into a pint jar of birdseed w. a polyfill lid would be?? I read Ryche Hawk's tek and he said 1/2 cc for each of the four holes and 1 cc to the middle. Anybody use any other amount w. good success??? Thanks in advance!!! Visigoth

Yeah, it doesn't seem to be listed there. I went to fanaticus.com (home page of PF) and there's nothing about birdseed. Could someone just tell me what a good amount to use is. It would probaby take less typing and time to tell me than to make a smart ass crack about where to go to find it. I've about had enough of those, thanks!!!!

Those amounts work fine for birdseed. Even without the center 1cc they'll colonize great as long as you keep 'em warm (84F). That's for a mostly millet birdseed.....

The great thing about grain substrates is that they can and SHOULD be shaken to distribute the spores and ,upon germination, the mycelium through the jar. Don?t fill your pint jar to the top, ypou shoould ghave around 1/4th of the space free for shaking.
