You havnt taken them out of the jars yet? I suggest you search for PF Tek. You have to take your colonized mycellium out of the jars and introduce them into a Fruiting Chamber. A Stable, Clean, Humid enviroment. Check the PF tek that will tell you everything you need to know.

turn your jars upside down to allow the bottoms to colonize, it'll help a lot. and after they are 100%, you BIRTH them... look at the PF tek again.

as has been said in numerous other threads...there can be a lot of different reasons that your cakes aren't colonized yet... 1, perhaps you mixed your substrate with the wrong level of moisture?
2. perhaps you're peeking at them too much? Mycillium like TOTAL darkness in order to colonize at full speed...this simulates their natural environment...ya know...the one where the sun NEVER touches them?
3. maybe its because you're not storing them at the propper temperature (between 80&85 degrees F)
as well as a HOST of other factors that are simply too numerous to name.
My best advice is...put them in a warm, dark, out of the way place, and just bloody forget about em for a while. Patience is usually the best cure-all when it comes to cubies.

judging by the level of colonization in the cakes, I'd say at least a week.

I suggest you not post without knowing what you're talking about. Those jars are clearly not fully colonized and fruiting them now would result in contamination and low yield at best.
I'm betting they're stalled because you left the foil in place thereby suffocating them and not allowing gas exchange.

Aluminum foil would still allow for air exchange, as well as act as a contam barier...though if you used a layer of dry verm on the top of your cakes, this extra barier would be unneeded, and the foil would be pretty much frivilous (as well as decreasing your air exchange.
Bottom line...if you used a dry verm layer, remove the foil...if not...dont.
Something you can try, however, to speed up your colonization is to flip your jars over onto their lids....This thread explains why... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...rue#Post5652736

No way. You don't want contams getting in your jars. Just because you have a verm layer is no reason to let contams fall into your jars! The foil is simply a cap to prevent contams from falling directly donwn into you jars! Always have foil or some sort of cap over your jars to prevent contams from falling down into it!

First read a lot more.
All the advice posted above is good.
1. Wait for the jars to colonize 100%. To speed this up turn them upside down and smack them so that the cake pulls away from the bottom, this will let the myc colonize it easier. If growth has stopped loosen the lids and try to let a little fresh air into them, but not so much that you get contams going in.
2. Birth the cakes into a fruiting chamber. The easyiest way is to cover the bottom of a tub with perlite and add some water. You also need a light source. You need to read up on this stuff!
3. Wait 7-18 days for pins.
4. Wait another 5-10 days for the pins to mature into good sized fruits.
5. Harvest.

they have their own bathroom, everything was sterile before we put them in, they were done perfectly when putting in the ingredient, we only go in there after taking a shower and have only a few times to make sure water levels, etc. are fine and spray bleach everywhere. They have always been at 84 degrees. There is just still stand still for a couple weeks... they need to fully colonize which none of them have before we birth them ya i know. has this happened to anyone else? should we cold shock them? already read everything at pf tek ya Ive done everything correctly referring back to how to do it doesn't answer this question

I'm fairly certain the PF tek says that you are supposed to wait until you get pins before you birth them.

That is true. If a beginner is using the PF-Tek For Simple Minds | Fungifun, the Tek instructs that:
Once colonized store the jars at normal room temperature, about 21°C (70°F) to initiate pinning. Don't expose the jars to direct sunlight. Indirect sunlight (= the natural light that lights up a room because at day time out) or a low wattage lamp (cool white fluorescent lamp is ideal, incandescent lamp is less suitable) for 4-12 hours a day is sufficient.
Within 5-10 days (with certain mushroom strains it can however take up to 30 days) pinhead-size accumulations of mycelium should form. These so called pins represent the beginning of mushroom growth. In the following days also small mushrooms with brown heads become visible. When this is the case it's time to birth the cake into the fruiting container where the mushrooms can develop to maturity. Some strains don't easily develop pins. In this case put the colonized jar wrapped in a plastic bag in the fridge over night and then proceed to fruiting next day, even if the cake doesn't show pins yet. This cold shocking usually helps trigger pinning somewhat.

yes. birth.
next time do not wait for pins, birth a day or two after the outside/bottom colonizes 100%.
the point is waiting for pins in the jar is bad.

Yep. Definately birth. The reduction in CO2 when they are birthed is the most critical pinning trigger. Fungifun needs a good hard kick in the balls.
