Personal comparison of colonization speed
    #583179 - 03/19/02 09:28 AM (22 years, 15 days ago)

The following are my results of my limited and unscientific observation of three strains started from spores on the same day and one started 2 weeks later:

1. Puerto Rican: hands down winner. Started 2 weeks later and passed two of the other 3 strains. Quite amazing speed and rhizo.

2. Tazmanians: strong second

3. Gulf Coast: slogging along

4. Treasure Coast: slighlty slower than GC.

Unrated:

Koh Samai started much later, but had visible germination in 3 days. A personal record!

Notes:

Puerto Rican on RBF / verm was quite slow and no rhizo compared to PR on birdseed, but may have been somewhat dry.

This small sample size does not mean much, but may contribute to the general body of knowledge.

I did not list times as this was a relative observation and everyone's setup will differ as to actual days.

i concur. by far the puerto ricans are the fastest and most aggressive strain i have had the priviledge to grow.

Hmmm, I wonder if Puerto Rican women are just as aggressive...

Ive seen a few half pint B+ jars throu to 8 day colonization on chunky BRF/verm with honey enriched water. Ive also had Maz colonize the same substrate in about 14 days though ive heard much about their slow colonization speed. Lamai Beach also seems aggressive on this substrate at about 11 days for colonization.
