noticed a few webs on the spines si u gave it a spray of miticidal soap.
now i know what happens.....

i was in love with this cactus. im afraid it might not recover, ALL these blisters appeared since this morning. just after it rained. i applied miticide about 2 days ago. one side still looks decent, and the opper growth seems resistant to the blistering, although it was sprayed more and is also deforming.
this is a disaster. where am i ever going to find more T peruvians?

My sister-in-law killed a cactus with bug spray. It's best to just wash them off with water.

well, i gave it a good wipe down, but alot of damage has occured here. It's also just slightly over fertilized. i suppose if it lives it will have a rediculously high alkaloid content. maybe i wont have to worry about all but the most psychadellic mites.

well, i saved it, im pretty sure. gave it the chip to protect the rooted part from suffering the infection of the blistered upper. ALSO shipped off the tip at about where the blistering went from just bad to TERRIBLE.
then i put them in the sun to callous and dry up.
After asking around to those who know I found that the reason for this problem is not from the chemicals of the spray, but rather from its film-like nature. And the bubble effect was not blistering, but rather the swelling caused by the plants photosynthetic parts dying from aphyxiation.
essentially, filmy products SMOTHER cactus tissue. Makes sense, but i diddnt think the soap would so completely seal off the cactus's aveoles.
anywho... i hope evryone learns from this.
most of the damage has dried up in the desert sun, onlt the most rotten parts still look bad, but will likely soon scar over. actually gives it character. I will plant the top, and lay the body down on its side to root and pup. hopefully it will root and start pupping before the season ends (around nov here)
and the bottom might pup too, but then, my san pedro hasn't pupped yet and i cut it 4 weeks sgo. It HAS swelled to twice its original girth and hardened. (rather than growing tall) so it IS growing, i expect it will pup when it can fatten no further, perhaps i should have cut it shorter than 7 inches. from now on, spider mites will be dealt with with simple water. and when i bring them in, a washing, and sustained fanning for a few days. i will ALSO repot and spray down the substrate with mite soap, but NOT the green.
