Inoculate agar from a syringe?
    #5831573 - 07/07/06 12:56 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Is it possible to inoculate an agar media petri with a syringe or is the water content going to mess things up? Theoretically I would think it would work. Has anyone tried it?

It works fine if the syringe is clean. In my experience you often see a slimy contamination on agar even if the syringe works in a PF style cake. It just depends on the quality of the syringe. Antibiotic agar can help fix a modestly contaminated syringe if the spores are still viable.
