i had a post about 2-3 weeks ago and i had some shrooms sitting in a shoe box for 2 years. i wanted to try to bring the strain back but wasn't sure if i could . some people said to do agar plates to get a sterile sample. but i didn't want it that bad so i made a cake and took a cap from one of the dry mushrooms in the bag. took a toothpick and scraped the gills over a sterile cup. took a sterile syringe and shot it in the cup and sucked in (did that a few times) then inoculated 3 cakes. 2 are almost done and one never did anything. so it worked also there is no sign of con tam and they look great. now my next question is to figure out what kind they are , so i will post pics when they start to grow.

Awesome! Great work. You should make a grow log, or maybe a formal tek.

I agree with the other posters -- you should document this for the benefit of the community!
I had no idea this could be done =)

Spores remaining viable for two years really isn't groundbreaking news.
Props on lucking out with the sterility issues though.

good luck with that!~
There are only about 8 Strains of cubesnsis that are easily identified by just looking at them.
glad to hear that you got some dried muchrooms to colonize some jars.
there is another process of doing what you did... but I'm not at liberty to disccuss this process since it wasn't mine. maybe he will share it someday soon.
