Have you tried useing some wire snippers to snip off the neddle so it's blunt yet NOT cut at an angle? This might lessen the amount of air in the jar that can enter the syringie. ... just a thought, I havent seen this tek done first hand before.

i actually saw flat tip needles somewhere-that you can order-- ill go look for that addy now-i have the same problem- my last syringe is always *smaller* than the rest because i cant get those last good drops! all my syringes have came out good though, even though clear- i was planning on ordering some flat tipped needles,i tried snipping the tip,and it caused the needle to have a slip in it,so it was suking air and fluid at the same time, not good- ill look for that addy now, they were real cheap maybe thats the secret of the Spore Syringe Gods(flat tipped needles) LOL Lee

Here's the deal. A little bubble in the spore syringe is a good thing as it allows the spores to be shaken up before innoculation. I use the same method as you, but I've located some fantastic shallow glass bowl/jars with plastic lids. I suspect any shallow container with a lid will be appropriate. I have small holes in the lid, covered with tape. When it comes time to suck up the spore-water, I insert the needle at an angle so that the needle point is as flush as possible with the bottom of the jar. Now swirl the jar, get the water moving around as fast as you can. The lid should still be on, so none will spill. While the water is still moving, suck is slowly into the syringe. The slower you go, the less air will get in. Another method is to (after ensuring as sterile an environment as possible) remove the needle from the syringe then quickly open the lid and suck the water in through nozzle of the syringe. It's fast and dirty and it works well. Obviously this method isn't as anally sterile as some, but I've never had problems with it. I've even done it so I suck the water into the syringe then blast it back out into the container to truly mix up those spores. You'll never get all the water back in, there's always gonna be a few drops left over, but as long as you shake up the spores, I don't see what the problem could be. I've never really had the problem you're talking about. In any case, even if the water is totally clear and you can't see anything at all, there's still going to be millions of spores in there!
