The last pic is a Coprinus and definitely not active. Yessup must have liked the way they looked and took a picture for the fun of it.

Yes, of course!  What's the fun in taking photos of all actives if we can't partake, hmm??
I agree, Coprinus plicatilis.
Here are some other photos.

(damn I'm bored)

Oh sorry I did not go back and re read what I had said...

I was trying to point out that I'm glad no one in my family was killed..
In that way God spared me the pain of having to go threw such a tragedy...

I'd say, luck was with you... not God.
But then, that's because I believe in one and not the other.

This is probably the wrong time and place for any skepticism on the issue.  Neeeevermind!
I am just glad you and your family are alright.

Thank God your family is alright Yessup.

CureCat, I find belief in God far more rational than belief in luck, but perhaps that question belongs in the philosophy forum.

Yessup, did you say rust spored pans?  :flowstone:

Yes, it does indeed belong in the philosophy forum... Though I will not inquire there, because frankly, I don't know those people, and find the opinions of the people in this community far more interesting.

I don't have faith, I believe what is proven. I believe science, and i believe that our science cannot explain everything... I also believe that God will never be able to be explained by science, I do not think his existence is tangible or measurable. Thus, I cannot believe he exists.
I do not claim to know everything or predict everything, but if you apply logic in deciding the most likely truth, you employ the rule that which ever explanation makes the least assumptions, is most likely. Do not get me wrong, this is not full proof- against the odds, the peculiar can prevail....
That of course is just one argument against the existence of the supernatural (in this instance, God).
Way off topic.

On a seperate note, that last smiley is fucking hillarious!! Aahaahaha, I wish I looked like that!

Hey YESSUP, rust coloured spores for panaeolus is a bit...ridiculous. Do you mean Panaeolina?? They have brown spores though... i wouldn't necessarily describe it as "rust". I may have found the same or a similar species of mushroom actually, while hunting subbs... But i realized that they were not panaeolus nor panaeolina due to the comparatively tough stipe... Did you experience that? I remember trying to pinch off a few mushrooms that looked like those, and unlike the subbs and foes, they just would not snap or tear- even my dull assed scissors couldn't cut through, lol. When i pulled one up, the mycellium was very ropey, and tough attached to the base of the stipe.

Another difference I noted was the gills of these were attached rather than free, unlike the easily seperable cap of Panaeolus and Panaeolina, gills free from the stipe.

Are my observations consistent with your experience with these "rust spored pans"?

Rust spores Pans. look like Agrocybe sp. to me... (maybe pediades, as a guess)

Big things happen around mushrooms * Thanks for further data on the humbling of a safe return.

Well, Curecat, it seems that if you take the elucidations of science to value, you are excercising a degree of Faith. I appreciate your analysis, this is a very modern context of belief. When we truly abondon assumption, then we have found the outer-darkness, an empty land through which we continue our (inner)search.

That's... terrible. Sorry to hear, man.
Don't worry about the transpo', I have buddies who can drive me (Don't worry, they can be trusted, and the drive from where they live to your fields wouldn't be worth their time if I didn't ask them to take me).
I'm swamped with work at the moment anyhow, so the unfortunate accident doesn't set me back at all.
Take your time.
