Goodbye Horses
    #5825886 - 07/05/06 11:26 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

I saw the commercial for Clerks 2 and Jay was dancing to that song they played in Silence of the Lambs when Buffalo Bill tucks his dick under to look like a girl. I cracked up when I seen that, but that's not what I'm posting about.

Besides the song having a weird association with a serial killer, It has a pretty weird meaning too.

In an Eastern philosophy "horses" are symbolic/representative of the 5 senses - the things that keep us tied to the physical/material plane of existence. When one can transcend the limitations of these senses and achieve a higher level of consciousness, they are leaving the "horses" behind - "flying over them." The song is about someone who was so affected by (A loss? A breakup?) they decide to give up the things that keep them tied to this world by emotion.

Leaving the horses behind is only pleasant if you come back to them.

Tonight I leave the horses behind.
