My shroom grow

I started some jars about 3 days ago. When I made the syringe the solution in it was almost clear. I followed instructions to use 1/4 by 1/4 inch area of spores off the print. Is this bad? Will there be enough spores to innoculate the jars? I have about half of a syring left. Can I squirt the extra solution into the jars to get more spores in there to help innoculation. It's been 3-4 days and no sign of mycelium growth. I also knocked the lid off of a couple of the jars. Will this cause contamination? I am using the quart jar method revisited. I keep the jars in a sterilized box with the upside down lids and the bands on loosely. I wold also like to add that this is my first mushroom growing endevour. Any help would be great. thank you, guitarshredder

Relax,

You don't have to see spores.....they are in there.
If you used a 1/4" by a 1/4" of a print for one syringe.....your good to go.

You didn't say how much you put in each jar.....and how many jars you made up.

You shouldn't add more than the right amount....it might make the jars too wet.
Plus opening the jars again isn't a good idea.....you might get contams.

3 or 4 days is nothing......relax.....time takes time.
It might take a week.....if you don't see anything after a week.....you might start to worry then.

Quart jars your first time? Probably not a good idea !
You need to tell us more info.
What type of substrate are you using?
Grain ?

Yes knocking the lids off wasn't good.....there is a good chance you will get contams.

I am using the tek located at http://www.shroomery.org/findorgrowthem.php?View=docs&doc=17 I am using brown rice as the substrate. I made six jars but I'm pretty positive I fucked up the first two. I used roughly 1 1/4 cc of solution per jar. I haven't been too sure about how tight to keep the bands, the first time I went to check the jars three days after i made them knocked the lids of to the side a little. Man, this mushroom growing business is tough. thanks again
