High altitude growing.
    #5824350 - 07/05/06 04:51 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

I live between 5 and 6,ooo feet with humidity alway between 10 and 20%.
So Im always having a hard time getting my humidity up for fruiting ( I use the perlite bubbler method).
The good thing is I can take my shrooms and lay them on a plate and 24 hrs later they are dry as a stone. Plus with little humidity I have less air born contams to deal with.
I was just curiouse if anyone else lived in the same climate and if they have any tricks to share or advise. Or if their is some good links for those things.

I live in a very similar climate, and have had problems with colonization. I've searched for years on the board and not found any relevent information related to growing at higher altitudes.

You need to increase you pressure cooking times by a little to compensate for the altitude. That's the only tip I have for ya.

Some of the best mushroom picking you'll find anywhere is around Telluride, CO. above 9,000' elevation.

As said, just increase your PC times a bit and the mushrooms will grow just fine.

i can say my PC time is now 2hours at 15psi (im at 10k').  the biggest thing im noticing though is that my grows are taking 2 weeks longer than normal and im' watering my subs 2 to 3x more ethan ever before.  i still haven't gotten my situation fully dialed in but i feel like we should keep this or another thread going for High altitude growers who are looking for tips etc...
thoughts?

You didn't need to bump an 11-year-old thread and start a new one.
