IDK about Canada, but when I got bit 2 years ago( and it was a confirmed recluse bite), I did alot of research on the internet, and found out that the recluse had not yet been found this far north. Within the next month, I ran into 5 different people from my area that had also had confirmed bites. My next-door nieghbor was bitten in the face 10 years ago, and still has scars. I believe the habitat for these spiders has increased in size, and they're around more than people want to believe. I knew I should'nt have been in the back storage room, moving boxes that hadn't seen light in years. Now I'm more careful. Peace

I recall my old high school biology teacher telling us that spiders are natures carbon monoxide detectors.
If you have spiders you don't have unsafe levels of carbon monoxide
As they are apparently quite sensitive to the gas.

Bites north of the recluses natural habitat are actually common. They hitch rides in warehouses through shipping companies. Think of that the next time you open a package.
That is not a recluse, telltale sign it is not is the stripes on parts of its legs. A recluse is solid color legs. The eyes are another dead give away. That spider has 8 eyes while a brown recluse is rare and only has six set in pairs. One pair in front and the other two pairs on the side.

its not a recluse damnit! recluses tend to lay flat all the time. the only exception is when they are moving and that spider wasnt moving. end of story.

i only have a problem with spiders when I'm sticking my hand into a dark place or when I'm in a confined space(under house, etc) if its in my house i just paper it and take them outside.
i find spiders incredibly beautiful when I'm in nature watching them etc.

Actually there was one time I did get kind of freaked out by a spider.
In my dads garage I found this web, and the web was really strong. Like REALLY strong. It was like a super web, but no spider.
So a few days later I went back to the garage and saw the web again and remembered about this super strong web thing. I tapped it with my finger and a spider jumped out!
I still wasn't that scared but it was fucking HUGE! Probably the size of a black widow but it was mostly tan with wierd markings on it. So I captured it and put it in a jar.
I put some dirt and grass clipings, a little stick and some rocks. So it could hide and stuff. It almost immediately hid.
So I was thinking, what could it eat. Next thing I know there is a dragon fly that accidentally flew into the house. I catch it in the window and put it in with the spider.
Here is the scary part.
The next day I go downstairs to the basement where the spider was. It at the dragon fly. It ate fucking EVERYTHING. There was nothing left except the wings. It ate the head, body, tail, EVERTHING.
I always thought that spiders sucked the juices out but not this one. It fucking ate a whole dragonfly...
The next morning I let it go since it was just too badass of a spider to keep as a pet.
