McCain's New Best Friend

Is anyone disturbed by the new buddy buddy relationship between John McCain and Jerry Falwell? In my political discussions, I've never put a bad word towards McCain until now. He really seemed fearless to me. And, until just recently, I thought that I'd prefer him over almost any Democrat likely to run in 2008.
That's all changed now, as McCain has resorted to the absolute lowest form of political maneuvering; finding Jesus. And not just any brand of Jesus, but Falwell's virulent and bigoted type that plays so well to Middle Americans who are seeking to squash their fears of both death and minorities. Did John McCain even have a problem with the conservative base? Were 50 million born-agains gonna vote for some liberal instead? Just seems like such a shame. He could have kept playing the game with his dignity intact. I hate living in a country where you're required to publicly lick Christ's ass just to have a shot at winning. It's embarrassing.

Yes.

No, but remember you have to secure the nomination first. And these days a successful nominee has to appeal to this kind of people. McCain is probably holding his nose every step of the way.

Just how close are they? Are they praying together publicly?

Don't you realize by now how pointless it is to pin your hopes on a politician or to have faith in the American people?
