MY DOG ORDERED A KIT FROM MUSHROOMMAGIC.COM I LIKED THE IDEA OF A GREEN HOUSE TYPE SET UP CAUSE OF LIMITED SPACE AND THE NEED TO KEEP EVERYTHING RIGHT. PROBLEM IS THE KIT DIDNT COME WITH GOOD INSTRUSTIONS ON HOW TO SET EVERYTHING UP. AS IT IS, THIS IS MY FIRST TIME WITH CULTIVATION, AND AM GONNA USE THE SUBSTRATE, WHEATSTRAW, WITH A RYE GRAIN SPAWN. I THINK I HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO DO IT CORRECTLY, SINCE I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING SEVERAL DIFFERENT TEKS FOR THIS. PROBLEM IS SETTING UP THE GREENHOUSE, YOU WOULD THINK FOR 420 DOLLARS THEY WOULD AT LEAST SEND PROPER INSTRUSTIONS. ANY HELP ON HOW TO SET IT UP WOULD BE GREAT. JUST INCASE YOU ARE WONDERING IM TRYING THE EQUADORIAN STRAIN FOR MY FIRST GO AROUND.

First off......lose the fucking caps.....we aint fucking blind !!!
2ndly....you shouldn't be doing grain yet.
The odds of you failing with grain the first time is huge.
You shouldn't have bought that kit.
Kits suck !
You should have read the PF tek and did cakes your first time.
And you could have saved money....and actually grown something.
Most of those kits don't work for newbies let alone a journeyman culivator.
My advise to you is to use the fruiting chamber that came with the kit.
Save the other stuff for later.
Read the Teks and FAQ on this site.
And start out with BRF jars......using the PF tek.
And i have never heard of a kit that costs $420.00
For that much money.... I'd come to your house and show you how to grow mushrooms. (don't quote me on that)....lolzzz

ok the caps are "fuckin gone" your right about the kit, but i hadnt done much research at the time, and my "friend" bought the kit. but as it sits now we have it. anyway well what substrait do you suggest to start with? if rye isnt the way to go right now, man im just learning, so yall, be patient with a stranger to the cultivation world, i do learn fast by the way.

roadkill, ya got it...great biz...a traveling consultant
even on-line , other than forums, would be great,
tek could be taught with other strains....similar...
just so many folks I do not think ever read Oss, Stamets,
anyone..and yeah, for $ 420 something " ready to eat" should have come with it.....!!
that or a jar of vasoline..........that's right just bend over................

fortuanatly the stamats book came with it, yeah and for the money i was expecting a basicly fully automated grow system, with some maintince required, well you live and learn, i look at it this way, now that its to late, my friend keeps the kit when i move out, i have some experiance and the knowledge not to get ripped off again. now all i have to do is learn to grow the little bastards!!! but it should be fun no matter what.

Actually i am trying to help you.
You wasted alot of money on a worthless kit.
For less than $200.00
You could have bought everything you needed yourself.
And your would have something that works.
Please look around the site.......read some of the forum.
Read the PF tek.....and the FAQ.
And you will do alot better.....than a kit.
If you need any help......ask.

oh i know i appreciate all the help i can get, i just got done reading the pf tek thats on the pf web site, im defenatly gonna try that first, looks like i got all the wheat straw, casting soil, and "magic food" for nothing. i will prob do some experimenting with the wheat straw while im doing the pf tek, hope fully it wont be a total loss.
would it be ok to do full pint jars in the pf tek or would that not work? i already have pint and quart jars from parents canning endevers. thanks

Full pint jars will take alot longer to colonize.....and are more prone to contam.
Just go buy some 1/2 pint jars at Fred Meyers or Wal Mart....they are like $6.49 for a case of 12.
If you have a Home Depot in your area.....you can get Verm and Perilite there.
They carry the big 4 square foot bags.

The basic rules apply. It's all in stamets book, from spore streaking to casing, sterilization, growth parameters for various species, etc... The problem is to absorb all of that information if youve not familiar with the book (TMC)
This is why it is highly recommended that beginners start with PF tek. It's not failproof, but it almost is. Compared to beginning where it seems they expect you to do with that kit. If you are talking about spawning any type of bulk substrate, just be aware that the risk of contamination is higher.
The yeild (it's been reported) is less with PF jars, but one has a better chance of suceeding, rather than running into a contamination problem. If the risk of contamination can be dealt with, then you might as well give it a shot.
It's not really worth it getting those kits, they are a rip off because they seem to mislead people. I'm not saying no one has had success, but for the money....well its mind boggling. From what little I know, I like the pods better. And of course Shroom-mart is the best. They have everything one needs.
