Christian Martyers Last Prayer -

I wanted to post and share this painting I found awhile ago. It is called "The Christian Martyers Last Prayer - Jean-Leon Gerome"
It is has been the focus of my attention lately and has really moved me in ways which I hope will move some of you. It is quite a profound and powerfull painting, ecspecially because of the sad reality that this actually happened to these poor people during the advent of Christianity. Persecuted for sharing a message of truth among a degenerate, unethical and savage populace. What more can be evident of humanities unbelievably creul history.

If this picture doesn't inspire compassion in your heart, then perhaps it is time you reflect on the world you are living in and why you even exsist. I would also like to know how others here feel about this piece and perhaps share some historical lessons about these times.
Good Day

Yes, the power of hindsight...
Something tells me that it is much more likely that you are a descendant from someone in the mob that is seated than those huddled in the sand, and I think it might have something to do with that lion...
 Peace.

Don't worry, the Christians got back at the "degenerate, unethical and savage" during the witch trials.
It's estimated that 1500 Christians were martyred by the Romans, whereas the upstanding Christians executed at least 40,000 "witches," most of whom were midwives and healers.
The balance between the holy and the sinners was restored!

I don't know what the big deal was with these Romans. Lions gotta eat too.

A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

At those events I believe my teacher tole me the effects of killing them did exactly what the romans didn't want, it inspired many others because of such intense believe in this religion called christianity, it attracted many others to open up to it, so instead of scaring people away it lead them to it. Their deaths did not go without purpose.

Exactly allot of Christians back then thought that if they showed their devotion to god as they thought they saw Jesus do then they would be excepted into heaven. They basically wanted to die like that to show God.

There are two positive things in this whole thing:
1. Lions kill you before they eat you, they snap your neck or cut your artery, they don't like a moving dinner
2. Roman empire dissapeared just like Nazi empire and all other evil ocupators, they never last.

have you ever spoken or seen your god, or is he just an abstract thing?

well,
I don't really know what my god would say about being an abstract thing.
he doesn't exist
but we talk all the time

Exactly!!! You are made of God. So when you are praying you are really talking to your inner self which all of us have abandoned. So when something does happen it feels like an act of God but really comes from your inner self.

Yes. But your inner self is God. You actually can find alot about your inner self through religion. Just don't go to church cuz they stray away from the hidden meanings. Pick up some of the Nag Hammandi texts and listen to what Jesus has to say ha ha. Thats like basically what Jesus says to do is look to your inner self for every answer you need. You don't need teachers. So yea I'm contradicting myself but i don't care.
