 What to do if the draft comes...

Heya all.
This is my first time posting in this group!
My question is, how does one go about dodging the draft? I haven't registered to vote, but I hear that you sign up for the draft sometimes at drivers ed and I can't remember if I did or not. So if the worst occurred and I was drafted for some stupid war in North Korea or Iran, what would be the best way to escape?
Obviously if I didn't want to go to prison it seems to me I would need to cross the boarder. I live in Texas, so the Mexican boarder is not that far away. Of course, it seems to me that they would watch that boarder much more closely then they would the Canadian boarder, so would it be easier to escape into Canada?
Or should I stay in the US out in the middle of no-where, hoping they wont find me?
Really, I am wondering if anyone else has put much thought into this.

The draft has not existed in America for about thirty years. I seriously cannot see it being reinstated in the near future either. There is not enough political support for it.
You are thinking of something called "Selective Service". Selective Service is something that you sign up for when you turn 18. If you don't sign up for it you are not eligible for financial aid for school and stuff like that. Selective Service is basically a list that you get put on. IF (notice the big if) the draft ever gets reinstated you would be on the list.
You have nothing to worry about.

Canada or Europe would be your best bet. How ever if you are referring to the selective service thing that you sign up for when you are 18 that is not a draft and you don't have anything to worry about with that. I don't really see a draft coming anytime soon though, as we don't attack countries that actually have WMD. NK has it and it looks like Iran might real soon or has it already.
Plus a draft is super unpopular and would ruin the party that enacts it and they know it.

If you want to get out of the draft, When you come in for examination, before you go do as manys drugs as you can eat a shit ton of sugary foods, Come into the office and say im the biggest faggot ever and i have diabetes and im totally twisted on drugs, Can i suck your dick?

i heard one time that people who have to take medication regularly cannot serve or be drafted. for example i have been diagnosed with ADD so by taking adderal everyday is disqualifies me from being drafted. that being said i heard this from a friend and not a legit source(not that my friend isnt legit he is, but he could be wrong).
so my question is, is it true that conditions like add can get you exempt?

I dont think any of these things will work.
If there is a draft, I am sure they will take women, and people with health problems. The military is not 100% shooting on the front line. There are alot of other non physical jobs that can be done, and i am sure they will stick fatty athsma in the bathroom to scrub the toilets if he cant pass phys ed.

Step 1... get off your lazy !%# and register to vote. Rather than sitting around bitching about the problem, write the people that represent you and let them know what you are going to do with your vote.
Step 2... find all your friends and motivate them to get off their lazy !%# and register to vote. Give them letters to sign and mail to their representatives as well.
It may take a while, but nothing is going to change if we don't change it and the only way we can change it is by voting out the pricks that are currently in office and replacing them with real people. Don't run away from the problem, fix it instead.

IIRC, Hendrix was in the service before the escalation of the Vietnam conflict. I believe he got out on a medical discharge when he broke his ankle during a parachuting exercise.

Wow, thanks for all the responses.
You know, I also heard about that Switzerland thing. I wonder how easy it would be to get there though in a situation when the draft is on. Everyone also says Canada, and I hear they have had a good relationship with draft dodgers in the past.
But with the new conservative takeover of their government, it doesn't seem they will be as receptive as they used to be. On the other hand, they do have large amounts of wilderness.
OK, so if we assume I decide to escape to Canada. Were would it be easiest to cross & how? What area of Canada should we go to?

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, I am already married for three years so I doubt that trying a homosexual way out of the draft would work very well.
