it has been seven days since i inoculated my grain mycobag with 3cc's of mexi-cub. there is no growth at all. am i just worrying for no reason, or is somthing wrong. i think i might of screwed up the inoculation. i wiped the plastic part of the self healing thing with allchohol and flamed the needle, wiped it wiht alchohol, but then i wiped it of with a dry piece of toilet paper(right out of the package. could this cause somthing to go wrong?

I'm no expert but I think you are being impatient. give it a couple of days. something will show up.

next time just wait a few seconds and the alcohol evaporates, no need to wipe it dry
it shouldn't have made anything go wrong though, and if it did you'd have something growing in there by now (not the good kind of growth )
agreed, give it a few more days before you start to worry

You didn't say what size mycobag and they come in all sizes. I use 2cc for a quart jar, so if your mycobag holds more than a quart/liter, you probably used too little inoculant. Also, if you shook the bag up after inoculation, it set you back. It's best to squeeze out your spores in one spot and let them germinate there so that compatable hyphae can 'mate' and become dikaryotic, then shake the bag a week or so later to distribute the dikaryons. Dikaryotic mycleium grows much faster than monokaryotic, so if you shake the bag immediately after inoculation with spores, you're forcing the slow growing monokaryotic mycelium to colonize the grains, only mating when they encounter each other. This slows down the process. RR

so why does everyone say to break up your bags before and after inoculation?

before, water distrobution. afer, LC inoculation. i wouldnt waste spores on a mycobag, i use LC. you want a high quantity to speed the growth of such a large amount of substrate.

you will be lucky to get them both to germinate. Mycfactory bags are not totally reliable according to SWIM

I'm currently in the process of fruiting two grain-based mycobags. The first time I saw any mycellium growth (about 2 weeks after inoculation) there were a couple small corn kernals towards the top of the bag completely covered in white. They looked just like little balls as you stated. It sounds like you are doing okay. (FYI I'm growing bigger mushrooms in the bag than I did with the PF tek.. only did that twice, but the bags seem to be doing real nice so far!).

i looked today and there are many white masses of mycellium everywhere and the ones that are close together are starting to grow together. i will probably mash bag in 2 or 3 days. oh nad one more thing, can mexi-cub's really be fruited down to 50 degrees or is this just a marketing scam
