Why don't people try sustainable living instead of relying on a consumer based life style?

The thing is if this venture gets of the ground then, it will be sold to every fast food joint cross the country, real meat will get expensive while all the pour people that don't give much of a shit about anything feed on this crazy stuff.
Not saying it is bad to eat it, but i mean come on? Why do people got to be like this?!?!?!

That's pretty disturbing.

I bet a petri dish would make a good hamburger-shaping device...

exciting? yea in ways. scary in too many ways though. I mean I feel more and more detached from the people world and whats going on in the people world the more I read the news, as well as just mainstream culture.

That's what i was wondering. i mean it's still a muscle, it's still meat, you just didn't KILL the animal to make it, you just took some cells from it. i think it would depend on one's reasons for being a vegetarian

I'm all for this. I've been thinking about going vegetarian for a while, but if I can get test-tube meat instead, I'll just go with that. Or Quorn.

at the end of every KFC/McDonalds/Burger Kind business day, all the leftover meat/chicken/burgers is thrown out.
Now with KFC, think of the thousands of chickens who's lives were brutally slaughtered to be cooked and only to be thrown out at the end of the day like common garbage

i'd eat it. i agree with silversoul about the vegetarian thing, i have some qualms about eating meat that has been brutally slaughtered (although not enough to stop me from eating delicious steaks from time to time). if this were a healthy and paltable alternative it could have many uses like: feeding third world countries, saving the lives of animals, and increasing the sale of petri dishes

Id be concerned with the quality of the nutrients in the meat. I mean, we already get everything from vitamins to fish oils in pills. We can get protein, amino acids, and all other types of stuff in powders to make shakes. But in all of these things the quality of the nutrients doesnt quite reach the quality of regular food. Thats why even people who take all these protein shakes and vitamin pills still eat normal food to get the quality, the pills and shakes are just to make sure they get enough of it.
But with this fake meat, how close to normal meat would it be? They talk about controlling nutrient levels in it, but if they cant get the quality up it wouldnt be worth it, it would just be another protein shake...
And if it is close enough, then we are lookin at compressing it into pills for people on the go. And eventually, you will get your meals in pills... Like in the Jetsons!!
Just my thoughts
