Good luck. I've only found a couple of chanterelles this season. Oysters and sulfer shelves are pretty abundant in my neck of the woods. If you find some, post some pictures for us.

Yeah- Illinois has been blessed with a comparative abundance of rain in respect to our location, xmush. Most of my chanterelle spots are typically flushing well even this early in the season but not only have I been unable to find any variety of cantharellus, I have yet to find almost any mushroom of any type from any habitat. However I do wish you the best of luck.

Sucks for you guys. I've found loads of 'em. I dont know my chanterelles that well so Im not sure which species Im finding but they are all over the park I usually hunt. I have had really good luck on the steeper slopes near a medium sized creek that runs through my hunting grounds. Pics later... not at my house right now

Yeah, i hunt all of the above - chants, oysters, and chickens.
While I do know some very good spots for all of them, I've been slacking this year as far as hunting goes. Only been on a few real hunts. Last year I had gone on dozens of them by this time. In years prior I spent way more time looking also - I need to get my ass out there.

Haha Eris, the mod job is keeping you tied to your computer. Get out there man.
No chanterelles here in Ohio yet. This has been an awesome year for morels and bluefoots, so hopefully the chanterelles will follow suit. I'm waiting.

Will do.
The whole community forum section is very time consuming also.
Seems like on the days when we have had a good amount of rain and I know that mushrooms are out there, I'm always busy doing something else.

Cantharellus fan here. I wasn't able to find any fresh ones this year because those damn beetles got to em before me. Each one I picked had larva in the fuking gills tell finally I got hella pissed and threw the last one as hard as I could to watch the son of a bich splatter acrost the trunk. I hate when that kinda shit happens!

Eris has been double dipping his stick over in the pub, and in here Yeah Chanterelles, I find tons of the Cinnabarus ones, and tons of the gilled orange variety, as well as minor amounts of the Un-gilled orange type. However despite the huge number of orange chants I've found and eaten, I've never found a black trumpet.
These are a small batch of last years.

Next on my list, is Alaskan Fire Zone MOREL hunting, the ultimate prize, where football size morels may exist. And this is where I'll start my visit.

Care to say what state and where in the state you live? Here in North Georgia, even the last heavy rains we had were not enough to bring the chants out. Late July, August, and September will be the time to go out, after heavy rains. Where is our rain!!
Nice chants,
