How does filter paper work?

simple question.
how do filter disk work? also, how are they used on 1/2 pint jars?
would you recommend them. getting them is no problem i am taking an organic chem class and i have access to all i need.

First of all, that avatar is gross man... (barf)

Well you might as well get them Ive heard they work. Id sitll use the ramsey seal and all on the jars, but might as well get them. Also, they work well to make yoour venilation holes in your terrarium safe from contams.
