Yeah I'll definately be cloning to give back as well, I guess I should have stated that.  I promise to give 5 cuttings back to the community or I can be publicly executed

What we need here is someone with resources who really just wants to help out both shroomery people and the plants. I am not in that position just yet. But could definitely serve in a second capacity. What I am suggesting looks like this..

A large order is placed with Richter's or preferably a sponsor here on this site if possible.. An order of 100 plants (or really anything large enough to be worth the customs costs for them)is placed.

This order is paid for by anywhere from 1-100 people like us who are looking for a cutting, but who's primary motivation in doing so is to keep it spreading around before it is too late.

This way the person doing the work doesn't also have to front the money. Obviously this needs to be someone within the community with a rock solid reputation and some cloning skill.

A 500-1000 plant aeroponic cloning system is built. The object would be to take cuttings from all 100. 1st doubling or trippling the original plant count. Once the cloner is filled to the 500 or 1000 plant level, the original investors get the plant they paid for plus one extra. They get this as well as satisfaction that they helped start a much larger effort than they probably could have done on their own.

Once the cloner is filled again, cuttings are distributed to whoever asks for one. They must pay a reasonble cost, perhaps $7-$10 or can opt to pay a smaller charge (based on trust) perhaps $3-5 to pay for shipping a least.. provided they promise to clone the plant and spread it to another shroomery member that requests one in this thread. This will be the regulation. You must upon requesting the cheaper cutting, team up with another member who has requested one. Saying you pledge your first cutting to X. Should you fail to produce one in a reasonable amount of time, you are ineligable to request a cheaper plant again. No exceptions, not even act of nature destroying your plant. UNLESS you pay full price for one plant and then spread it to two other members.

Here is what is happening.. If you want one right away you get one by paying for it.. small or large charge.. if small you pledge your first cutting for free to another member. The member getting it for free doesn't have as much as a guarantee of getting it, nor do they get it as quickly.. This way it all balances out.

The original investors are over the first year given a total of 5 plants each, so that they don't end up paying more money than others. The timing of when these additional free plants are given is at the discretion of the person doing the cloning work, so long as it happens within the first year.. Obligations for cloning your low cost plant can also be met by helping to pay back the original investment group with a cutting as well.

The person doing the cloning work essentially gets to keep all the salvia dropoff leaves (that would be quite a bit) as well as the small amount of money recived from the orders.. although keep in mind a good portion of this would be eaten up by the costs of building and running such an apparatus.

Its a big commitment, but the rewards are there for everyone. Its about abundance and everyone having more than they otherwise would simply by us all working together. The cloner has a small business that probably only requires a little time each weekend. The investors get more plants than can be purchased elsewhere for that price. Everyone else gets plants at a better price as well. Most of all everyone gets plants in the first place, which they do not have now.

Yeah that's a pretty good idea bonehead.

Possibly a moderator can find out from richter's how many orders are required for it to be worthwhile to them.  Then they can post here how many orders need to be filled (by November 15th, that's their cutoff) and hopefully get enough contributions to get a shipment.

Unfortunately, they won't ship past the 15th and that deadline is fast approaching.  It'd be nice if we'd just have more trading going on within the forum

Well see.. I just tried to post a working plan, and its just an outline.. Obviously there are endless variants there to work with, including multiple cloning workers in different areas.. If nothing else this would speed up shipping.. but more importantly it would reduce the workload of any one individual person. But who knows; because it could generate a small income for this person, perhaps someone who has the resources would be interested in taking in on.

I just love thinking about ethical business designs. Its good mental practice for achiving balance. It soon becomes second nature. I would love for the idea to catch on.. 8^)

See the point is this.. if you want one right now, you can't have one.. I want one right now, and I can't have one.. plus many others.. if we work together, we all get as many as we want, Richter's makes out, and we create a job for someone on the Shroomery.

There is more than enough for everyone.. we just have to work together.

Good idea, it would be awesome if it worked out.
I would love to have a Salvia Divinorum plant that i could grow and take care of and make a few clones to help out.
If anyone in Canada has some to sell/trade give me a PM.
thanks.

I thought you were the one who posted about the november  cut off date. You should contact richters and tell them our idea and we are going to see how many people we can get with cash by saturday.
Next step is to PM everyone in this thread who has posted they are looking for a cutting and tell them of the scheme. If you you already have a cuttign and you had asked previously in this thread please delete your post or speak up(You want more) so you dont/do get pmed.

Well that end of the plan appears shot.. I guess we can only appeal to any reputable vendors out there that might want to make a slightly larger than normal sale.. and happen to see this thread.. man that really whittles it down doesn't it.. hehe

Perhaps we can try another approach here..

Maybe there are some kind people out there who are willing to trust someone.. I can't suggest myself as people just don't know me enough yet, and ethically it wouldn't feel right to request it be me when others have asked before I have.. BUT... how is this for an approach:

Perhaps someone out there is willing to send a cutting to "someone else" who is willing to serve in the roll I described above - as the cloner. This person once designated (this should be someone we all can trust - perhaps a vote) will receive any cuttings that normally might be volunteered in this thread. Meaning... while I might be say 10th in line for a cutting, my cutting instead will go to this cloner worker.

This worker then clones the cutting and as soon as possible sends a cutting BACK to the person who volunteered it. Then the show starts. As I said we are trying to establish a fairly large cloning opperation (I envision 500-1000 plant sites in the cloning apparatus) so the primary goal is the fill the cloner. Once that level is reached, the original donators get 4 more cuttings each (keep in mind they almost imediately get their donated cutting back).

Next, the cuttings go out to those that request them in this thread until the total level is reduced by half. At that point a cutting is simply made from each plant in the other half. A short time later, the next batch is ready to ship out. This is continued for as long as it is legal, or the worker gets sick of doing it, at which time they should seek out a replacement or we hold another vote.

As I mentioned previously there are obvious incentives to keep it going. Next spring I hope to build a small greenhouse for vegi's, so perhaps by then if I manage to get a cutting, I might be able to do something to help this plan along, even if I am just able to donate a small volume of cutings. Who knows, perhaps by then it might be possible for me to expand that a little, but I really don't think I should be the person to fulfill the role I have been discussing here as it would appear a litle too self serving.

Regardless, something is better than nothing. Starting even with one plant is just that, a start. Aeroponically salvia grows like a banshee, so it won't take long to expand to a usefull level. But I really think if we could get 10 or 20 donated cuttings, it would really become worth it. These people would get their cutting back in a very short period of time.

Think of it.. no more need to hear people begging about salvia.. hehe

I do think that the person doing the cloning should be very experienced and should stive to develop a very consistant way of shipping. I saw one vendor that showed their plants in agar, in a nice platic sealed cup. That looks like a very nice safe way to go.

I don't know about all of you, but this plan really has me excited. I hope we can make it happen.

OH HEY!! I just had another idea as well.. to help with trust, the cloner would post updates weekly indicating the current plant count, provide a picture of the clones, and discuss any issues they encountered.

I am in the Phoenix, Arizona area and would be interested in a plant or a cutting. I would certainly be willing to provide some cuttings back to the community when my plant is ready. PM me and we can work something out.

This is a great idea.

I found this site while doing a ton of research on Salvia and would love to be part of the spread.

I'm in San Francisco and if anyone has any cuttings they are offering I'd love to get one. Or if you're in SF and growing I'd like to hear how it's going.
