Printing Mediums
    #581431 - 03/17/02 02:18 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

Okay, i've been printing on tin foil lately but I just started to use the print and I find the spores VERY hard to scrape off and the kind of force needed takes way too long (more chance of contamination), and the tin foil seems to tare a lot. I think the original medium I used when I had success was WAX PAPER and the spores slid off easily using the tip of the needle. Anyways, I am going to try to stop using tin foil and start using WAX PAPER or INDEX CARDS.

Ideas? Thoughts?

i still like foil... it works great for me... as long as you dont use index cards i dont think theres any problem.... wax paper works good, but i just prefer foil... its easiest to work with... for me anyways, i like how its self contained like how you just fold it up

Consider using playing cards. I read that here, tried it, and have been using them for awhile now.

When I am ready to make prints...I plan to use eyeglass tissue paper. It is said to be sterile, or easy to sterilize in the oven. If you go to your local optometrist, just ask him for a book of them (they're usually free of charge)...Just tell him that you need to clean your lenses frequently.

I got this idea from some long-forgotten tek in my tek library, and just committed it to memory....Any comments....am I completely wrong????

Peace,
Esta

I definately find tin foil to be best but don't use the needle to scrape with, no wonder you are tearing it and having problems! Use a scapel-like instrument so you are scraping at least a 1/4 inch width at a time, something with a flat edge.

Puscle...I made a post a while back about playing cards. Me and some friends wanted to make some "leet" looking prints.

Max...I even tried using a razor but it still blew.
