Based on the evidence (i.e. reports from people who have tripped in their earlier years and are still alive today), no they don't. Albert Hofmann has been tripping for a looong time, and, at 100 years old, is still going strong and has a considerably healthy brain. Other than that, there is no real proof to say what kind of effects shrooms (and LSD, for that matter) have in long-term users.

albert hoffman is still alive??? I had no idea
as for the question...I figured this was common knowledge for anyone whos been around here for a while...if psilocybin mushrooms did major damage(or any kind of brain damage) at any point in your life I'm sure this site wouldn't even exist

Nobody can answer that question, Drugs in general, psychedelics especially, affect each of its users in a variety of different ways.
Be responsible, is the best advice we all have come to known. Being responsible isn't just limited to not tripping every day or week, or even once a month. However, something deeper, not losing appreciation or self value for what one has.
This is something that has definitely affected me from using psychedelics. I find the more times you trip; the more a person is prone to thinking outside the box. In terms of spirituality and intellect. You can become so absorbed in an idea or a journey you experience, and the aura that surrounds it.
Which then doesn’t leave room for your occurring world, the one that exists outside your mind. This is where I feel mushrooms, and allot of other psyches have a downside. When you are constantly living in your own mind and your own thoughts, it sometimes becomes hard to stop to think about others. Obviously it is not an obligation, but it has importance. Sometimes "normality” or everyday life becomes boring. Where then psychedelics can help make this "boring", have a meaning and a purpose. However, when taken for granted... losing overall appreciation of it, this is when it can become a problem of the future.
This is where I feel tripping must have a meaning. Tripping is a gift, clearly psychoactives were put here for a reason. So we should take these gifts and use them to our advantage; for self meditation as well as an answer to ones own deep questions...
