Pressure Cooker help-o
    #5814059 - 07/02/06 11:03 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys, here's the situation;

Bought a 4L Hawkins PC
Bought 6x 300mL jam jars (these are quite tall)

Now the problem is that the jars JUST fit in the PC, and I mean JUST. To make them fit I have to take out the metal thing that you put in the bottom to stop the jars from boiling, I was wondering if this was alright or if I fucked up and have to go out and buy different jars which are extremely hard to find?

Thanks,
deX

Yeh I thought of that but even a washcloth would make the top of the jar
protrude outwards of the PC...

Try it. It won't hurt the pressure cooker.  :smirk:

I just set my cakes right on the bottom of the PC, and I haven't had any problems. I personally think the metal thing on the bottom is superfluous.

yeah

keep it on low-medium for like 20 minutes

then go to medium

it might start rocking too if it does just leave it alone

The metal rack stops the jars from having direct contact.. the jars might crack... just be careful.
