OK so i set up 2 LCs w/malt/dextrose. The lids use micropore tape for air exchange. Are cofee filters recomended in addition? Also do I out them on after PCing or before PCing? And is everything covered w/foil proir to PCing?
Thanks

i dont use coffee filters. put a layer of tyvek under the band. you'll want another filter layer if youre only using tape. put foil on b4 PCing.

Coffee filters are designed to keep dust off. I don't find it necessary but then again I use a different, no-muss, no-fuss type of lid.
For my LCs I use these:
And for my WBS jars I do this:
(1) Drill a 5/8" hold in the center of a jar lid. (2) Once jar is filled with properly hydrated WBS, cover with lid, then tyvek, then ring.
Dirt-easy to make, no micropore that you have to GooBGone off, works like a Korean grocer.

howa bout foil berore and during. And tyvec over the top with a rubber band - like with a coffee filter? So it would go
1.lid with micropore tape and a self healing injector port
2. tyvek layer over and around top of jar held w/a rubber band.
When adding spores or removing mature lc you would just remove the tyvek layer. How deos this sound?

I agree or you might be seeing something like this...

I have done LC w/ a 1qt jar and honey. w/ a small hole in the center... and used polyfil in the hole of the lid.. It has worked fine for me so far no contams and I have had one for over a week. Oh and the oven tek for the flow hood works well.
If you have a sciece store near you can go there. they have small bottles w/ caps that self heal after injection.. they work well... I think mine was aound a dollar for the 100 mL size.
