    #5812231 - 07/02/06 11:50 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys i need some help
OK I'll tell u the whole story first.
i am new so if anything doesn't;t sounds right please let me know.
This is also my fist grow

i used the simple mind tek
The PF TEK

i am done most of my incubating
i have 7 jars incubating at 86F and they seem to be doing fine i put them in the incubator 5days ago and they all are 70% done. They were inoculated with Red-boy LC.

all my tunred out Great but there was a jar that i got ready way because the jars that are being colonized right now.

i did this just to test if the mushrooms will grow. that cake is full colonized and i have it in fruiting chamber.
The problem is that this cake that in the fish tank seem to be not pinning it;s been in the tank for 4 days and the tank temp is 80f and humidity is 95%. I have the tank \ layer with perlite at the bottom. i have a fish pump that bubbling water in a glass inside the tank.

i need to know y am i not seeing pins
i am not sure what is wrong and i want to solve this before all the other jars are ready. o and also i have a florescent light that on top of the tank on 16 on/8 off

if u need to know anything else just ask

thanks

i will also post up some pictures soon that should help

I just went through this as well... just wait it out it took me 14 days on my first cake... and I was FREAKING out lol. It just takes a little longer than expected, but soon you'll get some. When you finally see them though, which you will, you will be extatic! Enjoy, good luck, and patience... everything looks good. What's your humidity in there?

You're temps sound fine. I remember many occasions when sometimes cakes would take WEEKS upon WEEKS to fruit, this is why I moved on to casings - they're just as easy if you have enough substrate, which it sounds like you're good enough at creating. So why not try a casing with the next batch of jars you got coming up? I've noticed some strains just really have trouble fruiting right off of cakes very quickly, although I have no experience with the Red Boy strain.

In the end, it just takes time - maybe you should fan a little more, or adjust how much light your giving it to less or more. Who knows. Hopefully, it will fruit for you. IMO I found casings to be easier than straight cakes with their fruiting habits :P

Anyway, best of luck to you! Patience really is key.

Your numbers are all okay, and yes I have to say that casings is the way to go. I'm very new at this and so far have had one cake flush and three case flushings that totally blew that cake away! I was worried about getting all the casing stuff right but it's actually very very easy. If you need help PM me and I'll tell you how I did it (I know there are plenty of teks, but sometimes one on one help is better for some people). Good luck and just wait... it'll happen.

Well first of all, your cake is sitting on some kind of plate or lid? Because you dont want your cake touching the perlite or they will become water-logged. Second, my cakes usually take at least 10 days before they start pinning. My most recent one took almost 20 days. If it doesnt look contaminated and the temperature and humidty is correct. Then it probably just needs more time.

(75-85F No higher than 90F and you want the humidity to be as close to 100% as you can get it.)

Also did you dunk your cakes ? Did you roll them in vermiculite or rich soil before you put them in the FC? If not next time dunking your cakes and rolling them will greatly increase your flush size. If you dont know what im referring to you should definatly check into it. All the info you need is in the Shroomery just search for it.

I hope this could be of some help.

there is one question i have
my humidity is about 98% to 99% most of the times and on top of the fish tank i have plastic cover to let light in and keep humidity in
that plastic cover gets all wet and the drops of water drip down on my cakes is that a problem ?? what can i do to solve that

sounds like your cakes will be pinning soon.

just shake the water off the cover or wipe it off.

I've never noticed any problem with having water drips fall on my cakes in the past.

i hope SO
i just see a lot of fuss everywhere like pins but white mycelium

i will try try shaking the water off
i also read somewhere that if u put a little coat of Vaseline on the top of the plastic water wont set there so it shouldn't drip down on my cakes

I wouldn't bother with the Vaseline...

I'd save that for other things!~
