What an amazing sport, and what emotion. It's got everything you can ask for: speed, violence and clutch. Nothing beats sudden death hockey. The players - they're soldiers. In the Cup finals when Ales Hemsky broke his stick he simply winged it; and threw himself in front of a slap shot, literally taking one for the team as far as the figure of speech goes. Ales limped off the ice holding his chest.
The Championship: No trophy will ever match Lord Stanley's mug. The thing is huge, has history engraved on it, and history within it as each winning team has done unspeakable things to it (it once ended up at the bottom of Mario Lemeuix's pool).
Hockey is also becoming popular again: the NHL has it's own league poster boy and heir to the Great One, Alexander Ovechkin, the NHL counterpart to Dwayne Wade if you will.
Hockey - the sport of champions

My best friend's sister works at the RBC Center in Raleigh, after the Canes won the Stanley Cup she got to hold the Cup at the after party. She kissed it and held it over her like all the players! I told her that i want to make out with her just b/c her lips have kissed the Stanley Cup.

As A die hard Red Wing fan.....hockey is the best sport.....what other sport do you just get a 5 minute penalty for fighting?

Point taken...however.....hockey is the only sport in which fighting is not the main objective of the sport itself....

if you're going to laud a sport for its 'extremeness' or in this case just particular violence, why not quit beating around the bush and just watch what you're really after?

Bingo. Which is why MMA is the ultimate sport. No BS, just carnage.

Because I find it interesting that a sport will allow violence.....it is sporadic and unplanned.....giving me an adrenaline rush....
