Lighting - direct sunlight
    #5809651 - 07/01/06 02:43 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Is there any problem with using direct sunlight to induce pinning? Everything i've read mentions ambient or indirect light.

How important is regular lighting? My friend has success previously with 30 min of indirect light for 2 consecutive days and then no light except when fanning once or twice daily (he missed a day here and there). Was this a fluke?

Due to his schedule thing may get neglected for the next 4 or 5 days.

as long as they are getting some light they will be fine. IMO the more regular schedual you can maintain the better..

My outdoor bed gets lots of direct sunlight, I put it on the wrong side of the bush oops. Will my outdoor bed fail?

Hypae - aside from heat whats the problem with direct sunlight?

The casing was in the sun for 45min. It was a little warm but not warm enough to cause damage.

Also - I've read conflicting info about cold shocking to help induce pinning. I suspect its not helpful with cubenis but is there a definitive answer to this?

as to your cold shocking question... it IS a pinning trigger, but it only requires a 5 degree or so drop in temperature... not the fridge like everyone thinks... just taking from incubator to room temp is enough.

yeah, keep the ground moist.

you may even cover the area with plastic if you need a humidity boost.

water it like roses man.
wet like it's glistening, but not pooling.
don't let it dry out too much.

Pins will form reluctantly if at all at high temps so you may have to wait until temps a bit cooler. And yes keep her moist this is the time for vegetative growth not fruiting build that patch!
