G O O D Q U E S T I O N !!!!!!!!!!! I think it would be a great fight and its so close that it would depend on the age and fitness of each animal - and the sex . If each were Male average fitness and average age I think the bear would just take it . I reckon the tiger would really take some chunks outta the bear though - it would be great to see it staged on a mountain cos then tactics would enter the realm in that they could push each other off - cool . Add in a komodo dragon and the fight would rule ass !!!!!!!!

Sorry, but the komodo dragon would be a non-contender. They kill larger prey by infecting with a bite full of bacterially-infested saliva. They then wait, sometimes days, for their prey to die. Not at all useful in a fight to the death against a large predator.

Although the bengal tiger is a superior predator, the Grizzly bear would win with ease. An adult male grizzly bear is ENORMOUS...probably around 1500 pounds and 12 feet tall. A bengal tiger is only 400-500 pounds. However, if it were a siberian tiger against a grizzly bear, the tiger would have abetter chance.

The tiger might be able to pull it off. The better match would be a lion versus a tiger.

I think a tiger would beat a lion. It might not be easy but I def think the tiger would win. Hell that guy in the gladiator killed a lion. They must not be that tough, although he was a pretty tough guy. Peace

That was a tiger in gladiator not a lion. Lions aren't striped. They have mane's and such.

Wellhere is a picture of me with a small brown bear
and then with a tiger.
And fifteen years ago with a large tiger.
The Tiger would win. Unfortunately Tigers and Grizzley bears live in different climates and habitats so I doubt that they would get in a fight together. mj

So I say: Yeah - they CAN do that - but that doesnt mean that they cant do anything else, they have the ability inflict wounds by whipping with their tale , I have seen someone get wounded like this, it was bad - Plus: they have very tough skin, flesh ripping teeth, powerful jaw muscles, they run fast and have strong limbs and sharp claws as well as no fear (ok so the no fear bit might not be true - but it probably is !) . If a Komodo dragon saw a grizzly/tiger he/she might avoid it(and vice versa) but if we forced them to fight (live on tv) then the dragon would have to fight to the death so what do you think its gonna do - cry and give up pleading to be set free for a bribe . I dont think so - its gonna go nuts and try ta kill the others - well I certainly would if had a moniters lizards brain and was put in that situation . I have seen a hippo fight a load of lions, it was excellent .

It would be a good fight. If the tiger had free range in a forest type area it could stalk the bear and then ambush it unawares, jump on its back, maul it severly then run away again before the bear could respond, leaving the bear to bleed to death. Thats what i would do if i was a tiger and a bear encroached on my territory.

Actually tigers dont have a bad attitude. I have spent a lot of time working with wild cats, including tigers, and they are prolly the most chilled out dudes.
MJ that second pic the cat looks really pissed off. I mean seriously.
Anyhoo, if they didnt live on diff. continents, yeah the cat would win-
1: More muscle per pound of bodyweight 2: More flexible 3: Quicker 4: Way more going on upstairs
Not to say the bear doesnt stand a chance, but its just like that.
Also, if they were together on the same continent (we do have Sloth bears and Black bears here in the same habitat as tigers), then most likely they would avoid conflict as much as possible, its very unlikely any of them wants to be damaged beyond repair, and thats exactly what would happen.
Even if the tiger wins, theres no saying how much damage it would sustain taking down the bear. So in reality, in this kind of conflict, nobody wins.
And yes, its setup for shows. Some of the filming that is done for these shows is done in the wild, but there is also atleast half that is done on large sets or captive environments.
Thank you, come again.

Easy question. Tiger by a LONGSHOT.
We've all seen the videos online of grizzly bears backing down from the Tiger's SMALLER cousin, the cougar.
If a grizzly loses to a cougar, he'll lose twice as bad to a tiger.
It would be a slaughter, one sided.

assuming that they are both rabid uber pissed of, i gotta say the grizzley, the only chance the tiger is is to go for the throat, but i just dont see how is could get past the massive arms of the grizzley

WRONG ! a grizzly has a longer reach, studier bones, thicker hide.. The point here is not who backs down, but who wins the fight. Here is the situation...
In an open field are placed a tiger and a grizzly. Both creatures have no fear and are in good physical health.
Given this case the bear would win (most of the time) based on arm reach, power and defense. The tiger could not do much damage to the bear thru the thick hair with its claws, and would not be able to get close enough to the neck. Tigers are designed for killing animals that have necks that the tiger can bite into. The bear would be basically immortal in this situation.
The bears claws would penetrate the tigers thinner hair more easily and the bear could easily crush the tiger after swiping the tiger too the ground
Bear > Tiger

Grizzle by a long long shot. Those things are INSANE. I mean look at Smokey the Bear. In 1982 Smokey the Bear was put in a cage match against Tony the Tiger. In the 3rd period Smokey the Bear ended up breaking out a flamethrower and toasting Tony's ass... So ya Grizzly by far.

It couldn't happen. Tigers will be very stealthy about approaching the bear. They it would probably jump from a higher level onto the bear attempting to close its windpipe.

I wrestled bears. You cut a turkey neck and rub the fat all over you. I had to stop because apparently im allergic to bear saliva.
For real.
im going to be a NFL pro soon, and i plan on taking my nike endorsment money to set up underground fights between endagered animals. My first fight will be BEar Vs. TIger! Perhaps if it goes to long i will start flooding the room and after 3' of water accumulates i will release the shark.
thank you shroomery.

I wonder if mj ever figured out that in both of those pics he's sitting with the same tiger. I wonder if they just sat there together for 15 years.
