contaminated?
    #5810251 - 07/01/06 04:32 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Hey, I'm very new at this. I'm not sure if these guys are contaminated, or just bruised. They fell over a few times (some are still on their sides), and I just can't tell. However, the actually mushrooms look ok...(I think). Thanks for the help.

H202? Did mean water? Not trying to be a jerk, just want to be sure it's not something I haven't heard of.

Argh, I already threw them out. Is there anything else that could be used in a pinch?

if you make a strong solution of peroxide and water... like 60 peroxide 40 water, the cobweb mold will actually melt right before your eyes. next time it happens, you'll know what to do!

Why did you throw them out? They were just bruised from being dry. There was no cobweb or other contamination. You also shouldn't sit them on the perlite. They need to be on something. The perlite is for humidity. You can dunk the cakes overnight in water to get moisture back in.

ah, sorry for the confusion. I threw out the lids of the jars, not the cakes! rr, are you saying there's nothing wrong with them? should I squirt them with peroxide and water? what should I sit them on?

Sit them on a jar lid. Don't spray them with peroxide, as there's no obvious molds present. After you pick that flush, dunk overnight in cold water. Read up on 'dunking'. Your cakes are very dry.
