Multiple mushroom Identification
    #5810082 - 07/01/06 03:18 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Hi, I'm new to the forums and have read the guidelines, etc.. I realize that when posting different species I should have an individual photo for each, but due to extreme limitations in bandwidth and speed on the computer that's availible (took me 10 minutes to upload each photo) it would take all day, and since I have to work this is really the best I could manage. I apologise in advance, and if my violation of deemed severe enough please delete my post..

Moving on though, all of these were picked in southeastern PA, in a grassy yard which is regularly fertilized. IMHO most of these look to be in the wrong family but there's no harm in asking, there's no shortage where these came from! hehe.

not confident enough to give a mycologist description, but all were picked within 100 feet of each other, and # 14/15 were the most abundant.

You have a bunch of Russula.. Looks like a Pan or two..
A Boletus and whatever else..
You need to split them up into like groups and work on the spoor prints..

The ones that are likely Russulas include #'s: 1, 2, 6, 9, 10, 13, 5, 12, 17, and 16.

For #3 we need to see more of it. A closer look and of the gills. Same goes for 8, 14, and 15.

#4 looks like a Bolete. Cut it down the middle and stab/bruise the inside flesh to see if any color changes occur.

Thank you for reading the guidelines. A spore print is very easy to do and is required. Especially for the ones that we are not able to identify from just the pictures alone.

And so.. [Re: 5taples]
    #5810625 - 07/01/06 07:18 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

also here are three more, they turn darkish-blue when irritated (as you can see on the one); http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/812/dsc44468gg.jpg http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/2374/dsc44470yi.jpg http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/9821/dsc44480gn.jpg (go or no?)

sporeprinting was useless for all of them. it may be because they've been sitting for too long.. or that the type of paper (printer) used was somehow incompatible with the procedure.. I'm really not sure..

Here is 8 and the one dubbed a bolete again. 3, 14, and 15 were upon closer inspection/research basically worthless save for looks. 14+15 were both just little brown guys.

Wow that took a long time.. alright, thanks again.

those ones that are yellow with the red cap are a species of bolete, those dont have any psilocybin in them and are probably poisonous, dont eat em. Doesnt look like you have any that are active, but if you find any more make sure to do a spore print before posting.

good luck
