emergency! nonfully colonized jars fruiting in incubation

For some reason or another I have several 80-90% colonized jars that are pinning at the top. Some are as long as 1cm. What do I do?
I suspect the reason they started pinning is low temperature in the incubator... they are only pinning on the top.
Pleeeaaassee help me out here. I don't wanna lose these cakes!

On second thought they probably pinned because I look at them too much.
But still, what do I do?

Don't freak out; you can let them grow in the jars for the entire flush if you want. Or when they finish colonizing, gently birth the cake. Light triggers pinning, so you did look at them a lot. I expose my jars to light from day 1 with no contam. problems, but I do a lot of invitro growing because I am lazy--and it works. Peace. Jammer

I suppose I'll be finishing these jars invitro and then dunking and rolling and transferring to the FC...
Should I just stick the jars upside down in the same room my FC is in after they finish colonizing? Temp stays around 75 in there and there's a 12/12 light.
Also, had any success with invitro grows with the Hawaiian strain? :P
And yes... I just couldn't help myself from looking... it was the light.
Thanks for calming my nerves!

Light isn't the only pinning trigger, nor is it even the most important. Perhaps there's a reason the jar didn't finish? It could be too wet or dry, or there might be some bacterial contamination. Normally, even if you expose to light the entire time, pinning won't start until full colonization and an increase in air exchange.
Sometimes however, you have a super strain that pins like crazy. If that's the case, be sure to save it.
You can birth the jar if it finishes colonization. Birthing rarely aborts the pins, but if it does, new ones will take their place. As said above, it's nothing to freak out about. RR

The mycelium is still filling in the spots on the bottom so I think I'll be just fine. I expect it to be fully white by the end of today.
When I do decide to birth the cake, do I need to scrape off those pins before I dunk? Or should I just skip the dunk/roll for the first flush?
Thanks guys.

Leave the pins in place. Usually, they'll double in size during the dunk and rarely abort. If they do abort, pull them off. Otherwise, they're fine. RR
