Toaster oven?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has ever tried (with a degree of success) the "Oven Tek" (flowhood) with a toaster oven??? If so, How successful were you. Is a toaster oven with a setting of 500 efficient enough in a small area? I am trying to make my "Lab" as compact and as efficient as possible. I could use a regular oven, but there are certain limiting factors... 1. It's in the kitchen and that's downstairs. That would mean I would have a higher risk of contamination if I have to transport them upstairs to the inky-bater. 2. Timing: It would have to be done when the 'rents were away, and they're unbelievable homebodies. 3. Stealth: It's hard to maintain a low-profile when your neighbor walks by and sees you hovering over the oven innoculating over 30 jars. Then, proceeds to attempt to explain it to your parents.... "That boy's up to something, Martha." Please hit me back. Esta "Simplify your mind" -Bob Marley

If the toaster oven is producing enough heat to cause an draft of warm air flowing out of it it should be fine, but make sure you can feel the heat coming out jsut like you would on an oven. Also make sure that the jar is placed in the middle of the door since the output of heat would be concentrated there and very little on the edges since a toaster oven door has a small door unlike a large oven door, this means 1-4 (depending on size of door) jars at a time. This owuld be a lengty process with 30 jars, unless you were exxagerating..... If your not how the hell do you hide 30 jars from your parents and are not able to do it at the oven???

well with a full size oven there's usually a fan which circulates the hot air...

You took Home Economics didn't you! Is the fan what keeps the heat pouring out and spilling upwards??? There is a pretty noticable updraft with the toaster oven, also...and the heat doesn't dissipate (i.e. you don't have to close it to generate heat). It's a pretty nifty little oven. As far as the 30 jars go: Yes, that was a gross exaggeration. But anyways, thank you all for your suggestions. Esta

Not sure about what you're asking. Never tried it myself but I do use my toaster oven to dehydrate my fruits. Only takes about 3 to 4 hours and temp never goes above 125ish f. I'm interested in seeing some answers to your question though

just use a SAB?
when its not in use you can store stuff in it and keep it somewhere out of sight.
But it also might be worth considering if you should be growing in a space that isn't yours.
