What is the deal with the warning about using an AA-921 on glas top stoves? Is there any workaround for this?

the bottom of all america is slightly concave... therefore, only a little bit of the surface would be sitting on the hot glass... would take a long time

^^^that and the weight and the heat can crack the glass top.
I dont know of any way around it, I have heard that using a hot plate will work, but I dont know any more about that.

hot plate is ok... it takes a really long time unless you get a high wattage/amperage one though...
or you can use the side burner that some gas barbeques have..

as i was told it has to do with the weight, and the fact that the base of the cooker is wider then the glass top burner. this leaves the heat from the burner with no way out, and the heat bulid up will cause a fire. even with out the fire threat though the weight thing is valid.

actually, according to a distributor, it's exactally what i said: the bototm is concave and the pressure cooker may heat unevenly or very slowly due to the fact that only a small percentage of the pressure cooker is touching the heating surface.

oh, and your glasstop wont crack because of the weight... it's because it's not conducting the heat to anything and just heating the glass a lot.

i will sometimes put them directly on the bottom, just make sure you start off with cold water and let it heat up slowly... that way your jars dont crack from the direct heat... it's always best to use a rack though... or at least some crumpled tin foil or a wash cloth on the bottom

I use an outdoor propane burner. Commonly found as a part of a 'deep frying turkey' kit.
Of course, only use these things outdoors.

not line the bottom... make a sort of buffer so the jars aren't resting on the bottom. or you can use anything that will survive the heat and keep them off the bottom... like a washcloth, yer jars are gonna be rockin around in there and making noise too if you don't use something on the bottom

its due to the concave bottom has nothing to do with taking a long time but as the heat builds up it forms a suction and when you try to lift the pot off it will rip a big chunk of the glass top out. i used to work for sears repair i have seen this happen quite a bit and it definitely voids the warranty.

the cooker looks a little violent at the moment. is that normal, or should it be pretty silent?
