Deep Jewish Quote

Without End -----------
Ask the wise men of many cultures, and they will tell you that all is temporal, all will pass, there is nothing in this world to cling to, only to transcend.
Ask a sage of the Torah and he will tell you it is not true. The vanities of time, the failures of life, they all pass as clouds on a windy day, but truth lives forever.
This is the meaning of the thirteenth of the thirteen principles of our faith, the belief that those who lived true lives will live again, in a real and corporeal way. It is a rejection of temporalism, a confirmation that there are things in the world that really matter, that have endless meaning and absolute purpose.
Whenever a G-dly act is performed, all involved are elevated beyond time. Save a life--you are Noah saving the entire world. Feed weary travelers--they are the angels coming to visit Abraham and Sarah. And Abraham and Sarah are hosting them with you.
In fact, all those who had truth in their lives are here with us today. It is only that we are so much a part of this river of time, we cannot lift our heads to see above it.
Only when the falseness of the world will be ripped away and all is elevated to a place of truth, then we shall all see each other, together once again.

A prescription for Heaven on Earth.
"Whenever a G-dly act is performed, all involved are elevated beyond time."
I love that.

Great quote! I just sent it to a couple who we've known for many years yet we have no idea why they continue to seek our company. They were at our house with some other people last weekend, and the lady was going on about how her children 'belonged to her.' She could not see them as beings that have come into the world replete with their own purpose, first of which is to realize the Eternal. For her, the children are all about making her look good. Incredible. She twice before referred to herself as being "shallow" and I can only agree with her. They are outwardly 'nice,' and I have no reason to simply reject them, but there is no shred of seeking or meaning evident in their lives. They walked out back and saw Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags fluttering between palm trees. She asked what they were and I said "Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags." She said "Oh." I know that she does not know anything about them (despite the fact that she's Chinese, converted to Judaism). I did not offer any explanation because 1) she was not interested in the meaning of the OM MANI PADME HUM and 2) I know her well enough to know that her perception was just some ratty weather beaten rags making the property look shabby.
I would rather teach than dismiss, but after knowing me for some 13 years and my Lady for 10; they have their materialistic family and friends and they have this Psychedelic couple. Anyway your quote set me off here because if I have any purpose in being in relationship with these people it can only be to take God to them. What else is there?

nice, easy to misunderstand after misunderstanding, easy to convert into dogma after conversion to dogma, easy to incite anger and more misunderstanding.
actually, I am not sure i actually understand it except for a feeling of clear light and good purposing after some phrases.
good thing my dogma converter is in the shop. I'll shut up now.

The only thing that I got out of that was that it's all temporary and that we should not cling on to anything, even love. Love is but a way for some two people to be together. Not like it is neccessary to have love in a realationship other then common ground. Then with things in common you have things to do together. I'd rather have a relationship with no love and common ground, then love and no common ground.
To me Love is like an emotion that i'd rather push aside. Emotions are things that i don't find neccessary. More or less just feel content and get along.

Wow, you really didnt understand the quote at all.
"Ask the wise men of many cultures, and they will tell you that all is temporal, all will pass, there is nothing in this world to cling to, only to transcend."
This phrase describes what other wise men will tell you.
"Ask a sage of the Torah and he will tell you it is not true. The vanities of time, the failures of life, they all pass as clouds on a windy day, but truth lives forever."
This phrase and the rest of the quote tell you that that way of thinking is false. Everything that happens has a infinite effect on the world and everything matters.

where you have baggage you need camels.
let me enlarge that view for you:
Quote:
This phrase and the rest of the quote tell you that that way of thinking is false. Everything that happens has a infinite effect on the world and everything matters.
the second sentence contains all meaning that is valuable, the first sentence is just contentious baggage. if you need a camel to carry excess baggage, the commitment becomes huge. you must feed it, and care for it's extra needs as well.
