Spinning, Spinning, but never moving an inch.
    #580383 - 03/16/02 08:16 AM (14 years, 8 months ago)

Sometimes I get the incredible sensation that I'm moving incredibly fast when I'm not going anywhere.. it almost always feels like im spining in circles, like on those little merry go rounds that playgrounds have... and am holding on at the outermost possible part.. I can feel it pulling on all parts of my body, and its so intense i often feel as though im going to fly up and slam into the wall at any moment.. It doesn't happen while meditating or on drugs (it happened once on shrooms, and made me fall out of my bed, but i think it just occured as randomly as it normally does) Why does it happen... is it a crossed signal in my brain thats telling me something is happening that isn't.. or an incredibly vivid memory of a past feeling, so fresh that I actaully feel it..

Whatever it is, it sure feels scary to be sitting at the computer and suddenly feel like your spinning in circles at a couple g's and have no control over how long it lasts or how intense it is...

PS: It usually lasts 10-30 seconds... the first time it happened I thought the earth was being ripped out of orbit or the moon was crashing away.. or something

I know what you're talking about. I also get that feeling, it happens a lot and I am sober when it happens. Sometimes it even feels like my head is a balloon on a string, floating far above my body. These things only last a minute or so, but it seems there is no way to control it. It used to freak me out, but now I'm used to it & just wait for it to pass. I've never heard of anybody else getting these strange sensations...I'd like to know what it's all about.

This is simliar to "walking meditation". It is a good exercise to try when you are doing any boring task.
